My sister passed last monday and saying goodbye has proved to be one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my 29 years on this earth. I have had my share of hard times in this life especially in my youth but this has topped it all. She was only 30 and left behind a 7 year old son, I can't imagine how he feels. Contra costa times has writen an article on her in todays paper and I have included a link to it below to those who wish to read it. All I think about is all the good times we had together and most of all how much help and support her "Little D" is going to need throughout his journey of life. I have decided to organize an anual Striper derby to build a trust in his name so he has a better chance at life than his mother and I were provided. I want to see what kind of interest there would be in this if I can get it together. I will scheduling it in the fall so the action is good on the striper out onthe delta. I usualy fish the anual "Pogo" striper derby that is put on to support Mike Pogo's son and it has helped his family a great deal and I know it will give my nephew more hope that there is still a bright future for him. If any of you guys know about the Pogo derby I will try to run in the same manner, after the derby I will try to organize a fish fry(we will fry up the weighed/measured in fish) and raffle's if there's enough of a turn out. I already have donations for the raffles and ther is already some nice fishing gear in the mix. If you guys would be interested in this let me know as I will have to start getting this together soon to make it happen. Tickets will be in the $20-$25 range, and biggest fish will take the money.
Here's the link to the story.
