Delta Crash??

Post by Mike »

Yesterday a helicopter and fire trucks came to the Discovery Bay ramp and a Sheriff boat brought in two injured people. Then today at the Snag Proof weigh in I hear someone talking about a bass boat involved. Anyone have any info??

I launched Friday morning out of Orwood and the Sheriff and CG were there. I was planning on fishing towards Disco Bay that morning but they told us they were closing down that area to continue their search for a body. While we were launching the Sheriff was pulling in the boat the victims were in. Really makes you put things in perspective.
If I call in sick, I am probably on the Delta.

Every year we get a reminder of what can happen to us out on the water especially areas as congested as the Delta/Discovery Bay. Ihope everyone involved is ok.

As a reminder to us all....Life Jackets and Kill Switches!!!!

As I keep reading and hearing about these crash's and other thing's that happen in and around the Delta make's me even more nervous to take my boat up there.

Maybe I'm making more out of it than I should. Sure hope whoever I get paired up with at the HBC know's the Delta.

The wife and I were around the corner from Indian Slough fishing the frog event when we saw a Sherriff boat towing a skeeter on one side and a ski boat on the other. I thought it was a friend of mine's Bass boat so I stood up threw my hands up in the air and he, using a hand gesture indicated they hit head on.
Bad deal all the way around..
I know that this past weekend was bad for water traffic for some reason, even had one IDIOT come within a "foot" of my boat on his wake board.

Fishing just north of Orrwood we had a ski boat pass us on the short side of the river with only 6 ft. between us and them. Full speed of course towing a skier. I love the NOOBs on the river without any type knowledge or river savvy.

It's time for a driver's test and license for all boat operators, like for cars and trucks. I'd take it in a heart beat.
I'm surprised insurance companies don't get behind that idea.

Oh man the boat lobbyist would have a field day......Notice that it doesn't take a special license to drive a big diesel pusher motorhome. Some are as big with trailers as a diesel rig. AARP baby....

i still dont think that would help. look at all the idiot drivers in cars on the road. i think that the insurance company should lower your rates if you do take a boating class.

I AM NOT SAYING THERE SHOULD BE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR STUPIDITY,
BUT, WHY DON'T WE JUST TAKE THE SAFETY LABELS OFF OF EVERYTHING
AND LET THE PROBLEM SOLVE ITSELF?"

Are you talking about vehicle length? No license for motorhomes.

That Happened to me to a few weeks ago, except the idiot hit my boat.
As far as licenses for boaters, that won't stop people from drinking and being stupid on boats. It hasn't stopped people from being stupid in cars. I'm 13 and have been driving boats for almost 2 years, which includes my current boat with a 225 motor on it. I know all of the laws/regulations for boating, all of the safety requirements. There is always going to be stupid people that do even stupider stuff in this world that unfortunatly kill themselves and/or their friends for it.
