Need help Finding the proper flippin stick...!!!
Its a long story about why it comes down to these two rods but I have to get one of these two rods. I want the rod for punchin and pitchin the delta. One is a longer Heavy Rod, other is a shorter extra heavy rod? Which do you think would be the best choice. I created a poll I think...trying it for the first time, so if you can respond to that, awsome, but please let me know whatever you know about these rods if you don't mind.

For flippin and pitchin you gotta go with what's comfortable, but a longer rod is always gonna be better if it's comfortable for you.

Right on Ryan...and thanks for the rod, i liked it a lotR.Cook wrote:For flippin and pitchin you gotta go with what's comfortable, but a longer rod is always gonna be better if it's comfortable for you.

what is the advantages of the long rod besides leverage? I am new to pitching and flippin and just assumed that because the big jigrod was heavier that it should handle the weeds better.
Wrong again.

The longer rod gives you alot more control over the fish (in my opinion), and moves alot more line on a hookset which really helps when those big girls mash down on ur jig... also, that extra heavy rod is not the best choice for flippin and pitchin, havin a little extra tip will increase your hookups, Mike Tuck even commented on this maybe a week or so ago about too heavy of a rod popping the fish's mouth open with heavier weights.

If you want a multi-purpose rod, get the Big Gulp. They are both excellent rods but the 7'3" may be too short for flippin'.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Check out the new Skeet Reese rods. I had a chance to check out his 8ft flippin stik, its very nice. For the price of $90 each you can get 2 or 3 rods for the price of the one. Nice stuff too.
Fishing should be fun.

The fast action is more importain than length IMO.
But if you plan on punching the correct stuff were the bigger bass are (perrywinkle) your gunna need a stick that can swing about 30# of weeds and whatever comes with it.
I use a powel 766 and I so far its better than the 5 power rods I have snaped. I like the lamiglass 7 power rods and will get one of those soon.
