URGENT - Delta Water Troubles - Time to Step Up Guys
URGENT - Delta Water Troubles - Time to Step Up Guys
Folks,
I have been doing some research on the issue regarding the New Conveyance, aka Peripheral Canal, or Cross Delta Canal, as well as the two proposed projects for gates to hold back the freshwater in the Delta for pumping.
The state has tide control gates slated to go in, two permanently, and two temporarily in different parts of the Delta to change and control the flow of water into the Delta.
These gate projects appear to be temporary adjustments to grab more water until the New Conveyance, a massive canal that will remove freshwater from above the Delta in the Sacramento River. This new canal will pull our cleanest water and shuttle it around the Delta to Tracy, where it can be pumped into the aqueduct without fear of environmental roadblocks involving native fish species.
Along with the absolute destruction of Delta habitat, the loss of our beloved fishery and the destruction of business and communities surrounding the Delta, this new project will nearly completely drain Shasta, Oroville and Folsom Lakes.
The worst part of this is that the State Legislature is trying to accomplish this without the input of the population. They are trying to sidestep the accountability of the people who put them in office.
This is not just a Delta issue; it will cripple our already limping reservoir system, as it ships our water to central valley farmers and southern California.
Please do a couple of things:
First, get acquainted with the information available on http://www.calsport.org or http://www.millionboatfloat.org or the message board at http://www.striper-csba.com/.
Second, Get involved on August 16 at the Million Boat Float on the Sacramento River and the Rally at the State Capital on August 17. The yacht clubs, fly fishing clubs and striper clubs are behind this, and the support of the black bass fishing community is lackluster at best.
We show up in droves to compete in specialty tournaments and events on the Delta, but can't get 10, much less 100 boats to show up in support of perhaps the most important waterway in our state. Our legislature needs to know we won't watch this happen without a fight.
Please show up in support of those who are fighting to save their businesses, their communities and our fisheries.

I'm going to the rally on the 17th and anyone who wants a lift from Oakley is welcome to go.
On another note: We're getting hammered from all sides, the F & G Commission passing new restrictions for fishing along the coast this week, soon there will be restrictions along the entire 1100 mile coastline, now they're considering expanding the "lead ban" state wide, water issues, as well as other legislation coming through the pipe. They are hellbent on stamping out sportmen throughout the state, and yet people just can't or don't want to find the time to get off their butts and do something about it. Once it's gone it's gone and it ain't ever coming back.
You guys that are all fired up about the name of a frog bait should maybe re-think whats really important and consider the consequences of not doing something to help save the little we have left.

FYI- the people that drew this crap up

Adams, Linda: Central Cal Water Board
Bonner, Dale: So Cal Lawyer
Chrisman, Mike: Central Cal part owner of Chrisman Ranches Tulare

These moron's have all been appointed to Secretary posistions now, but there associations and previous endeavors give you an idea of just how stacked the cards are in favor of the water thiefs.

whatever works I'm good to go your truck or mine. Yes preaching, but the thought of giving in to these SoCal water thiefs is more than I can take. I would rather leave the state than watch what Arnold and his posse of morons has in store for Nothern California. As far as I'm concerned they've declared war on our way of life, on taking our resources, and the economy that goes with it.

Has anyone drafted a Word document that you can attach here on the website somewhere? this can then be sent to all your State Assembly persons (mine is Roger Niello and Senator David Cox) and flog their email sites or their fax machines and send a ton of these letters to them. make sure you put your own signature on the bottom (or do like ACORN supposedly did and add names from the phone book)!!
The assembly needs to know that we are watching and will hold them accountable!

I'm researching launch facilities near Sacramento on the river guys. It'll be over Sunday night near or after dark, don't want you guys running the river all the way back in the dark.
I'll be making some calls and finding suitable space.
I'll post what I find here.
Good to see you guys involved.
