Tow Vehicles

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how well the Toyota Tacoma pulls a boat. I have a Z20.

I'm looking to take advantage of the cash for clunkers program but since I currently have an Explorer I wont qualify for any discounts on a Tundra or a F150 or any of the V8 trucks. Just looking for bass fisherman opinions on the Tacoma.

I only tow 10 - 15 times per year since I keep my boat at the Delta and fish the river most of the time anyway, usually to clear lake and other nor cal lakes. I've survived so far with the explorer but it sucks for towing.

It tows fine. Not like a full size truck but it works. My main worry is that the boat can dominate the smaller truck. However is yer pulling with an Explorer it will do equally well.

Spend a little extra and get a Tundra. I went through this last year and I am so glad I bought the Tundra. PM KB and he can hook you up with a great deal.

You'll be okay with that small amount of towing. Stopping in an emergency would be my only concern.

I tow with a small pickup, just had brakes put the boat trailer, No problems

I pull a Ranger 519vs with a Toyota Fj an a Nissan Armada you can definitly feel the differences but I wouldn't hesitate to pull with either one....

Speaking of Toyota Tacoma's, I just went down to Antioch Toyota and ordered a Toyota oil filter for the Tacoma and the price was an amazing $5.99 plus tax...I about flipped...What a deal...Maybe the dealerships are wising up, hope other parts needed in the future have prices this good...Thanks Antioch Toyota!!!...

can you say tranny or ask the question how about towing a 20 foot boat with a v6 and is the tranny going to hold up? everyone has there opinion but ask a mechanic they'll tell you the truth call up tranny mechanics and give them the weight of your boat loaded with gear and gas im not sure the weight of a fully loaded up rig my guess is about 5000# to 6000# so your problem putting alot of strain on that tranny and weak power

i know its not a tacoma but i have been towing my basscat pantera classic with my dodge dakota for the past 5 years and haven't had any problems. definately doesn't tow like a full size but have had no adverse effects because of towing to my truck. i don't think you would have a problem.

I am towing my 482v with a 2006 4x4 4runner. it has a v8 and can tow up to 7000lbs.

I do not have breaks on the trailer either.
I love my truck! it's a little monster............
