They should take them to a super tough lake like San Antonio or some other lake that is big but the fishing sucks.

Maybe it has something to do with the pressure of just wanting that one good bite. I've been to two of these and the first guy threw such big lure's nothing smaller than 5lb's would hit it.

The second used thing's I do and I aint cought a double digit fish yet so who know's.

PS:San Antonio is a pond right now :(

Maybe having more than 4.5 hours to fish would help....

Bring it down to Lake Isabella the Steve who finished second caught a 11.63 in an ABA tournament after driving 7 hours to the lake.

all the 10+ fish I caught the week of pedro would have been in the last half hour of the tourney or later. I think if it had gone another hour we would have seen a few big ones

Considering big bass feed when they want to and are wary due to the boat traffic of a tournament, 4 1/2 hours is about 1/2 the time needed for a summer big bass tournament, unless it's after sundown.
