US OPEN MOUTH INSERT FOOT

Post by Johnny Bass »

When your wroung your wrong...Admit it and take your lumps. earlier in the week I took a cheap shot at WON when I asked why no Internet Feed? Well let me tell you why... I did a lilttle research and to do it right its very big money, 6 figures minimum.... huge memory and gigantic bandwidth are needed , maasive amounts... sorry for poopin off with out knowin - Now I get to remove my foot

BTW I fished AAA last year and for the cheese its a fun deal. The bag of products from Sponosrs Row was worth 300 bucks, on top of that u have a real chance of matching up with some geat sticks! Oh yeah, I also won a $800 troll motor at the PP. For me and I'd say a good portion of the AAA's I know, it aint about winning the money.... always nice to cash , who wouldn't

I had to sell my boat last fall to keep my business going. It is now recovering well so next year I am going to take the time to fish it. I fished Mead once in the Champion tournament and I have a feeling I can beat Dobyns.

Every time the subject comes up I post the same thing but you know how that works, no one wants to believe. Glad you researched it and found out for yourself.

At one time we owned the domain www.liveweighin.com and just couldn't make it financially viable to offer that service to tournament orgs.

People forget, FLW has Fox Sports and so on, BASS has ESPN/ABC/Disney and so on. They have huge budgets that most regional tournament orgs don't have.

YouTube is expected to lose in excess of 170 million dollars this year. Much of the operating expenses goes to bandwidth. They are the fourth highest used website in the universe with over 82 million users and they can't make money doing it.

Standup response. No worries, JB. As a former staffer, there were a lot of questions out there where the answers seemed simple, but really were much more complex.

However, if it will make you feel better, I told 'em not to make the Internet feed just to tick you off!

Have to give them some credit. The blog they are running is pretty good. You can see who has weighed and they update it a lot right now.

Ask the NFL for money. I heard on the radio today that the NFL will make 284 Billion dollars by 2013.

Take it back? How many years did it take him to get out from under that tag?

Actually, I'm more than pleased for Gary, and proud of the rest of that 5-angler NorCal pro contingent that laid it on the line under some nasty conditions. However, where were the rest of the boys? As long as the Upstaters want to soak their feet in their wading pools every summer, there will always be questions. That's not my fault.

Yes, the good ones are truly great. The rest are missing....

Yea I know you love the North guys and I really believe you when you say you are happy for Gary. Records show that Mead is the toughest tournament lake out there and the guys up North have all made our trips down there, had our asses handed to us and found our way back North, I am one I admit it, I know you can drive 90 in tow up 395 in the middle of the night.

When there was talk of a venue change a few years ago for the U.S. Open we all told WON to bring it on up here, at least every other year. But the past So. Cal U. S. Open champs and certain outdoor writers said something about tradition and Las Vegas.

Looking back at the archive records of the Open there has been an absence of Nor Cal anglers for years.........it is a tradition!!!

Let's see the organizations had something like 9 consecutive weeks of pro am or open events this spring, some org's had us travel on Mothers Day, Easter, Memorial Day etc..... Hell George we earned some time in the wading pool and if you so. cal boys would learn to drink some of that damn ocean you all love we could add some water or get bigger pools.

How will the Series events pull these next two months? Do you really need that answer? Not nearly as bad as many of us need the $14,000 so we could go.

Don't take this hijack post as a bash session on either of us guys I really like Kramer, have been his friend for many many years and I know he respects me as well but we love to jack with each other.

always fun to yank your chain Kramer and don't ever change (I think)

If the Tournament is too tough for the Nor Cal guys.....

Plus if the Nor Cal guys Won then GK wouldnt have anything Negative to write. I am sure he can find a way lessen Gary's win a bit somehow. I dont know... maybe having the guy ( a great dude BTW) in 5th on his page instead of the guy who won???

Now, now, boys. To honor Gary here in Lake Elsinore, we're going to celebrate "Yuba City Days" with a rodeo and casting contest and everything. And everybody will get a T-shirt with 95993 emblazoned on the front!

Kramer you left out the morning donut eating contest, see how far you can pitch yourself out of the boat contest and the evening rib feed and labrador fetch off!!!!

What time is Gary flying in he wouldn't miss this for anything????

I think I can beat Dobyns on the "gettin' pitched out of the boat contest"...but as far as the rest...I am not worthy!!!

Gary brought the US Open victory back to NorCaL...that's the main thing worth celebrating! It's been a while, but wasn't Jeff ______(forgot the last name but it sounded like some other famous bass angler's last name) back in the mid 80's the last one of us to won it from the northern region?"

Clearly, the northern CA guys are showing up strong on the national and local scene these days. Those socal guys can't hold a candle to the NorCal guys accomplishments lately. Skeet, Mike B, Gary D...need I say more?

What's the next big story??? Look to the north...that's my $.02 worth.

You left off the last names, like we down here have any idea who you're talking about.

Next big thing? I thought it was going to be tap water direct from the Delta to my local carwash...

they'll be givin' away free smeltz....

It's a blog Jon. A big boy's MySpace page. Though objectivity has never been GK's strong suit, a blog IS for a person's pet promotions. Wonder what Tami is doing next week? Visit GK's site. Leave it up to somebody else to do features on the real up and coming Pros fishing the Co-Angler ranks like Taylor Parsons and Kyle Baker. I personally get a kick out of his stories. He has strong opinions and is not afraid to put them out for the world to see. Just realize it is a blog, not a newspaper.

damit Caudawg now I have to jump into the history and worthless tournament info section of my brain and tell you the Jeff guywas Jeff Munson of Chico, Ca that won the Open in the 80's. He used to be involved in Fangard with Hal Huggins. (how is that for worthless history Kramer?)

Why do you guys do this to me and yes it has been quite some time since a Nor Cal guy won it. Probably back as far as Gary Klein and no he is not a Texan he is from Oroville...same difference.

NO wait Gliebe won the Open in 2000 so it has been nine years since a Nor Cal winner. Four in twenty seven years from Nor Cal and you guys wonder why the Nor Cal boys are missing???? Three of the winners from Nor Cal were Klein, Gliebe and Dobyns, pretty good allstar team.

KB, I love you, man. And if you go back far enough, California was part of Mexico. Now whose all-star team are they playing for?

But hey, you'll really love the latest from Rick Clunn (who tips his cap to Mr. Gary Dobyns). But wow, then he definitely throws a haymaker at some tourney types, after the contest.

So one more question. How far north can I move and still be considered a SoCal? :?

I know thats why i put smilies down. His blog carries a bit more weight though due to his past positions and "titles"

Agree on the content. Don't ask a people who win or were on a winning boat how they did, that might help the sport and get more people into it as they have an idea what to do. Use it as a pet project to throw your buds a bone.

After reading the blog, you start to wonder exactly what WON is missing with their new editor. Other than don't stick fish when you are with a pro and Do NOT give his patterns and baits away with one day of practice left
