Payouts ???? - Why the obsession.

If you did not fish the tournament, why would you want to know the payouts. The participants know who won what. Is this a fantasy for those that are obsessed with the payouts ? or is this another critique of the tournament org. pay out policies ?

Most of the time it is just for personal reasons, It helps anglers decide if they want to fish next year, or how much the payout was effected by the lower number of anglers, per the posted full field payout. Yes, sometimes it does start a bashing, but I dont think that is the main reason for the questions.

People want the biggest payout because they feel that is a true validation of their ability. When it comes down to it if you do the math on the number of tournaments and number of boats someones chance at that big $$ is slim yet, the stigma is that you are a better angler if you win more money.
So one big win and a bunch of 100th or worse is worth more to some guys that a bunch of top 10s and a 2nd or 3rd.

Fortunately sponsors think the other way which enables a consistent angler to keep his sponsors and increase his income.

Hey smileee its pretty standard for them to put the pay outs next to fisherman. Everyone has there own reason for seeing the payouts. My reason is I am just curious how far they paid down. So I dont think it an obsession just people wondering were some thing is that is allways posted.

Some guys like to add all the entry fees - options to see the real payout. The printed material doesn't always accurately depict the true payout. In other words add all the entry fees together and check the actual percentage vs. advertised percentage. MSRP on prize boats vs. actual value can further distort the payout.

Sort of a risk vs. reward analysis.....
