Wiping down the boat; (THE COST EFFECTIVE WAY)
Does anyone know any other solutions/mixtures of cheap everyday household supplies to use when wiping my boat down after fishing? For example I have heard some people use vinegar+water or something like that...I am just over paying too much for boat cleaning supplies when there has to be a much better cost effective solution I can make at home. Any imput would be appreciated, along with the ratio's of fluids!

Vinegar and water works great. You still need to wax occasionally. Try this formula, best window cleaner ever. 1 cup white vinegar, 1 1/2 cups rubbing alcohol and a couple of drops of liquid dish washing soap in a spray bottle. I'm sure it will work great on your boat.

Go to Wal-Mart or Costco and pick-up a 64 oz bottle of Turtle Wax
Zip Car Wash/Wax. They may have a gallon bottle now as well.
Anyway, put about 3/4 of an inch in an empty 20 oz or so spray bottle, then fill with distilled water, and shake!
One 64 oz bottle will last about a year or so, and I wipe my boat down every time it comes out of the water. Cost is around $7.
Try it, it works awesome, especially with the distilled water.

I put a coat of Rejex on the boat then just wipe down with a damp towel when i pull out of the water. Some vinigar and water works well on the black motor for the water spots. Rejex has worked great for me as opposed to wax.

I get water spots on the boat that are near impossible to get off. Is there a magic solution?

This is what Ive always used

I buy it by the gallon so can get the free shipping. I use the vinegar trick in a spray bottle every few times out. About the forth time use the Jorgens shine. Man this stuff flat out works! Its like a wax as well as a cleaner. I swear by it, it also takes the water spots off.

Re: Wiping down the boat; (THE COST EFFECTIVE WAY)
I have been using vinegar( 50%), 409 (25%) and water (25%) for the past 20 years on the two boats I have owned. I only had to wax my first boat once and have not done so on my current 1999 model. I have use Pink Stuff on occasion or Pledge. I just recently found the Flitz produt to get off the stubborn water stains and it works great.
Re: Wiping down the boat; (THE COST EFFECTIVE WAY)
Keep it easy and cheap. 50/50 water to vinegar in a spray bottle for all hard surfaces. You can buy the big jugs of white vinegar at costco. Just wax the boat once a year, twice if you really want, and you're set.

Would Rain-X have an adverse effect on the gel coat?? Sure works great on windshields.
Show me the water and I will fish.

Re: Wiping down the boat; (THE COST EFFECTIVE WAY)
I find the most cost effective way is to not wipe the boat down at all, just go fishing, then put it in the garage. I don't wash my car after every drive either.
I'll clean the boat every 100 fishing days or so, or not!
The dirt and water spots forms a protective barrier that washes off easily with hot water and car wash soap
