What do you beleive the best line is for top water fishing;
Spooks, Sammys, Vixins, Ricos, and / or Plunkers. I found out Fluorocarbon doesn't work at all, unless you work the bait like a mad man back to the boat. But open water, clearer lakes like Oroville, Shasta etc....
The Best Top water Line Braid Vs Mono
Re: The Best Top water Line Braid Vs Mono
Fluoro sinks, so no good for topwater baits. Between mono and braid, I would like to recommend braid. But you probably have to throw some heavier braid, like 65 or 80# to get enough 'body' in the line so it would not foul up your hooks and around your guides and tip of your rod while working the bait.
Mono, it's easier and doesn't have the problem of fouling as the braid. But it's lack of strength as compared to braid could be an issue. If you were to throw an expensive bait into the tulles, be a heart-break if you cannot get it back at times with mono. With braid, you can almost always get it back unless you throw it in the rocks!

Re: The Best Top water Line Braid Vs Mono
If you can figure out which braids float that would be fine, otherwise mono is the default choice.

Re: The Best Top water Line Braid Vs Mono
Don't all braids float?
I use braid for topwater. period.

Braid only for topwater. Power pro is good. If price isn't a problem the daiwa braid is really good stuff, super smooth, smaller diameter.

201 PRO:
Iv'e noticed the diff. between the heavier power pro vs the smaller, the smaller stuff; 20lb does foul, maybe I'll try 65 to 80.
In reality its a reaction bite for the most part so 20 to 65 or 80 should'nt bother the green fish. Back in the day; I would normally through 12 to 15 lb mono.
