There's a National Guard tournament next month so the pros might be a bit tight lipped. Check out the reports on this site, the "competitors" site, Tackle It's site (http://www.tackleit.biz/) and Richard Pounds site (http://www.bassfishinclearlake.com/) for up to date tips.

Last weekend, lot's of baits were working including jigs, Texas rigged worms, beavers, spinnerbaits, shakey heads, crankbaits & horny toads. Rumor has it that most of the fish seemed to be down south near Jones and Jago in the 2-6 foot range.

Historically, the traditional "Fall" bite is a DD22 in 131NC but this year has done a good job bucking tradition. Be prepared to also try jigs in brown orange or brown purple, shakey head worms, senkos & topwater. Search the water column as sometimes the fish move deep.

Stop by Tackle It, Clear Lake Outdoors or Limit Out Bait & Tackle and they will give you lots of help on current "hot" baits and locations.

Where are you launching? If you don't have a 20+ or larger/heavier boat, you might be limited to one side of the lake if the winds are strong so make sure you have spots on the side of the lake where you launch.

The water is very low so drvie carefully near shore and pay attention to the "Shoal" warnings.

Best of luck!

D-Man,

I just wanted to thank you for putting up what was some really good information.

I have also been hearing down south with blk and blue jigs and green / purple worms.

D-Man has given some good advice here. Also look for the lipless crank bite to be going pretty good by then (LV500, Yozuri, Strike King Red eyed shad) Rip baits should be good (Lucky craft Staysee & pointer, Jackall Squirrel). Small swimbaits could also put a couple of kickers in the boat for you (Osprey top hook talon, huddleston, Basstrix, Baitsmith, Mission Fish, in the 6" models). Give us a call before you come up & we will be happy to give you the scoop.

Fall bite hasn't really taken off for me there yet. 4" cinamin black or purple flake hula grubs on a Carolina rig in 30' off fraisure point or the point going into hunnymoon pulled me a couple limits and some kickers.

That comunity water became comunity water because it's good. It still is good and reloads. The fish are still there they just move deeper with the pressure.
