Revo Out of Commision...

Post by texas john »

Hey all...Saturday on CL the nut that holds the cranking handle in place busted on me, and I lost the little washer/spacer that goes between the handle and the reel itself, any one have an idea where I can get one of those on short notice?

Thanks.

if you can't find a shop with parts, I would find a ace harware and see if you can match something up for quick fix.

Sacramento pro tackle in Sacramento and will fish and tackle in auburn have a few parts. If your in the area call.

Hey Tex,
You can just call Abu directly and get them to send you the parts. they ship 'em pretty fast; overnight if you want it.

the number is: 1-800-228-4272

you can look at schematics here: http://www.abugarcia.com/product_schematic.php

John,
I had the same thing happen on a brand new Revo.
Evidently, it is a common problem.
Their quality control either missed the boat on a shipment of nuts with slightly oversized holes/bad threads, or their assembly system cross threads them, and then jams them down straight, stripping the threads in the nuts.

I'd suggest you take it back to where you bought it first, or, if you bought it online, email them and tell them what happened. They will have a record of you purchase if you don't.
The place I bought it, Tacklewarehouse, gave me the option of returning it to them, or dealing directly with Abu Garcia.
I tried Abu Garcia first, and the woman in reels was as useful as tits on a boar.
I emailed Tacklewarehouse and told them about Abu, and TW sent me a replacment reel along with a return shipping slip for UPS. I got the reel in two days. No charge, no hastle.

That's why I use Shimano Reels.... I gave up on ABU reels a long time ago...
But to offer some help, see if you have any older ABU Reels, often times the handles interchange
