Best Fluoro for a Spinning Reel?

Guys,

I'd like to put a 10-12# Fluorcarbon line (for its sensitivity to taps) on a largish diameter stradic 5000FH.
Previous attempts have been a disaster with the line springing off
in coils like its been shot from a gun.

Any suggestions or should I forget it and just stick with mono or braid.

Braid is much more forgiving and you can always splice on a flouro. leader.

Seaguar Invisx is probably the best on a spinning reel. With that being said, anything above 8lb is very hard to deal with on a spinning reel. If you wanna go 10 or 12 pound try Yo-Zuri hybrid or P-Line flouroclear.

Berkley 100% Fluoro. But I also agree that a better solution would be braid with a fluoro leader.

The only line I use is Berkley's 100% Flourocarbon and haven't had any bad luck with that yet.
Another thing you want to make sure you do is:
1) Load it onto the reel counter-clockwise
2) After making a cast; flip the bail by hand and before you start reeling, make sure its everything is lined up right
3) Just make sure the spool is not over filled
By doing those 2 things, it has eliminated just about all my spinning reel mishaps

You will have the best luck with Seaguar's newest line which will hit the market soon. It is called Tatsolo. I have no idea what the price will be, but the advance spools they sent to me for evaluation were excellent. It has to be the limpest 100% fluorocarbon I have used; even better than Sugoi for limpness. It is a new resin formulation called "double structure" fluorocarbon.

BPS, Seagaur and P-Line are all my favorites when it comes to lighter flourocarbon lines... all work great IMHO.

Hey John, I would stick with 8lbs in the InvisX. I've had 10 and 12 on spinning reels before and it's just a disaster. It's just too coily once you get over 8lbs test. Besides, if you are fishing our south bay lakes, you shouldn't really need anything more than 8. If you do want to go bigger, I would suggest just using a baitcasting set-up.

Either Seagaur Invs x or Seagaur Abraz x. The Abraz x being more abrasion resistant. Both having the same diameter.

On my drop shot rig I use Seaguar Invisx 10lb. onCa. Delta. Made me nervous for anything smaller, just me. Dobbyns 702 rod,Shimono 2500 spinreel. works well. Feel anything moving. On heavier flippin stick, use 50lb braid- with 15lb. mono leader about 3 foot. can lift the house on that one.

Try P Line Flouro Clear...a great line for spinning reels. Less memory and very user friendly.

Not to hijack the thread, but I am wondering about Flouroclear and other flouro-coated copolymers. Do they have the sensitivity and lower stretch like 100% flouro?

Fluoro Clear is a coated line so it is not a 100% fluorocarbon so no it is not the same...

Call over to P Line in Brisbane, California and ask to speak to Don Newman VP of sales. If he has time he can go into detail.

Don shared with me how good Fluoro Clear is and that is all I use now on my spinning reels.

Unfortunatly, the lines that cast smooth from your spinning reel are the lines with less sensitivity, that's the trade-off you have to deal with.

Hold on!!!! Papajohn said he plans on using 10 or 12 pound FC on a 5000 size stradic.... I doubt this would be a problem..

I think that size reel is a over kill for 10 - 12lb fc

what are you fishing for? is this a Super Bubba DS reel?

If I was going to spool 8lb fc on a reels or 10 I'd go seguar on a 2500 series reel..
