Feedback on Powell 765 CB/SBR?

Post by MT »

Anybody have one? Do you like it? What do you throw with it? Would it handle a small wakebait like say a 7in AC Minnow or maybe something a little bigger like a Wake Jr. or 6inch Punker? Would like to hear any feedback good or bad. Thanks, Mike

I absolutely love mine. I have tried it with basstrix with mixed results, not always able to get the big single hooks to penetrate. I prefer to use it for top water baits, spooks, pencil poppers, wake jr's and buzzjets. I have also used it to throw deep diving plugs, norman DD22's and lv's. I also use it for 3/4 and 1 oz spinerbaits (trailer hooks recomended). It is a great rod with a great price tag.

BEST BASSTRIX rod on the market I think, I know Cody Meyer feels the same way for what that is worth, I also like throw big blades on it, you wont be disappointed, it will be a rod that is on the deck the whole day with whatever you throw on it....

It is one of my favorite rods he makes. Great for basstrix and other swimbaits. I have a friend that throws the big BBZ-1 on them and has had some toads with no issues. It is light but has great feel too it with a lot of back bone. I have four of them know and will be getting 2 more down the road because of its versatility.

I have thrown Ripbaits like the staysee 90 on this rod out of the back of the boat. It definitely works but I prefer their 703cb for them. But I have thrown them and it definitely works. Would probably be a great rod for the 128 pointers or comparable 5" baits.
This is probably my favorite rod for Chatterbaits, Buzzbaits and paddletails. Throw in bigger topwaters too. I'd imagine you can throw the smaller punker on it just fine. I flat out love this rod and for me it's very versatile with Mono, Fluoro or Braid tied on.
