Position Description:
The Motor Vessel Engineer operates, maintains, and repairs the marine engines and the mechanical auxiliaries of a motor vessel or assists in their operation, maintenance and repair; oils, greases, wipes, and cleans engines and other equipment; maintains fire and bilge pumps and the ship's sanitation system; performs miscellaneous mechanical maintenance and repair work; maintains engine room logs and records; services and charges storage batteries; cleans and paints engine rooms and bilges; performs additional deck work; as required, stands as watch in the engine room and receives and executes signals from the pilot house; may occasionally stand a wheel watch; and may be assigned to assist in patrol duties or research work.
Salary Range (monthly): $3120 - $3580
Minimum Qualifications for Admittance:
Two years of experience operating and performing maintenance on stationary gasoline engines, marine diesel engines, or marine gasoline engines of at least 350 horsepower or in the maintenance of airplane engines of equivalent horsepower.
