WON BASS Inland Empire Region This Sunday @ Perris

Post by Brian Linehan »

Hey guys-

Just a reminder that we'll be holding our first tournament of the year this Sunday, October 25 at the majestic and spacious Lake Perris!

As I'm sure you all know, this region is a split region and our first four events will be held at Lake Perris, followed by our last three events at Diamond Valley Lake! Also, the TOC is going to be at Havasu so you guys should be fired about that.

The bite has been good so weights should be interesting.

I changed the entry and options around so here are the details:
Basic Entry- $165
Big Fish- $30
Top 5 Option- $100
Permit Fee- $5
The total for everything is $300. Please bring cash, but checks are fine as well.

I decided not to do a bbq for the first few events because I wanted to concentrate on the event, not cooking. In time, we'll do the bbq for all of you fatties out there:)

We'll be doing a typical drive-up weigh in, but I've been advised that we can't dump the fish in the marina. Therefore, once you weigh in, you'll have to drop the boat back in and release the fish OUTSIDE of the buoy line. Also, I'll have staff needling at every tournament, but it's really up to you guys to needle. If you don't know how to do it, just ask someone.

Casting over the buoy is permitted. Remember that the distance rule is not really enforceable at Perris because of the size of the lake so respect one another and don't be rude.

I'll be there for sign-ups around 4:15 or so and remember that you'll have to enter from the main entrance, not the one by the dam.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to give me a call at (714) 580-4088.

Thanks,
Brian

Best of luck Brian - hope the turnout is great!

And, just curious - how does your staff know what to needle if there is no holding tank or net?

Thanks Roger! Hope all is well up there. I'm sure you and your wife are enjoying yourselves!

As far as needling, you can tell in the livewell. A lot of the time, you know even before you bring the fish in the boat. If you see any fish on there sides and definitely if their upside down, needle them. It's so easy and it perplexes me why people can't figure it out sometimes.

Take care Roger,
Brian

Thanks Bri... we're doing great - you need to come up and visit some time!

I know how to tell, but knowing how the weighins are ran (fish are usually bagged before they get to the scale area was just wondering about the needling comment... I presume it is more for those future tournaments you're going to be able to either release in the marina into net enclosures, or have a release boat working?

It is CRITICAL as you know (so not directed towards you Brian of course) that the fish are needled WAY before you take them to the weigh-in... even at Shasta last week, fishing in relatively shallow areas, I had to fizz several of my bass.

Look into the livewell from time to time, and any that are on their side need the needle... do it through the side, through the crushers, whatever you feel most comfortable with, but just do it! And if you don't know how, ask around to find someone who does before you need to do it, and get a good needle and keep it on hand!

Sorry for the hijack Brian... just trying to keep it at the top for 'ya!!!

Brian, hope you have a great crowd this weekend. Hutch did announce that the 2010 Tri States was again at Lake Mead. Has there been a change? Rick G.

It's actually going to be a 3:00 weigh in now. I'll repeat everything in the morning.
