Wise words for FPT Melones toc anglers and Vince Harris
Wise words for FPT Melones toc anglers and Vince Harris
I am asking the all anglers please have a fizzing needle and use it right away on your fish!!! The big rain followed by the big wind turned the lake over very fast. I have had to needle fish that are even being caught in twenty feet. If they are upside down needle them right away please..Vince please remind all boats the night before. Melanie has needles at Glory Hole. Thanks Johnny C and good luck.

If you don't know how to fizz a fish, you have NO right to be fishing for those deeper fish!!!!!!!!
Don't count on the tournament org. to take care of this for you, you have to care for these fish ALL day. If you carry them around bloated in the well all day and then weigh them, they WILL die!!!!!!
Take care and fizz your fish or stay shallow where you belong!!!!!!!

Pick up a Bends Mender, made by Scott Swank.
It's a needle on a 5" plastic tube.
Makes needling through the mouth a breeze.
No more guesswork, higher math, or removing scales.

Someone should give a fizzing demo during sign-in.

Wolfy...these guys wouldn't do it anyway for fear of killing the fish if they do it wrong. Then you get into the culling of a dead fish issue.Wolfeman wrote:Someone should give a fizzing demo during sign-in.

FPT should have 8 ft. tube nets that are open on both ends hanging off the end of the dock where the guys dump their fish after weighing them. The fish that are fine are able to swim out the open bottom and the floaters will float up but be kept in the top of the net to be needled.
Saw these at the Galaxy Customer Appreciation tournament on Folsom a few years ago. Maybe John Barron could chime in here and tell us where he got those nets or how he made them.

Mark you are right on the money. Through the mouth the fish dosen't need to be laid on the carpet and its scales do not need to be removed. If you are able to buy a boat you can fizz a fish.
Wolfman is also right. Some can keep a fish and they can demo at the pre-tourny meeting.
Scott waiting for the weigh in is to late. Largemouth get red bellies within five mintues. It takes 20 seconds to fizz them and they are fine.

This issue can not be mentioned enough. The Bendsmender is the best $5.00 you can spend. Thru the mouth is MUCH better for the fish and is the easiest way to do this. No tournament or week-end fisherman should not be able to do this and MUST do this. As mentioned it should be done RIGHT AWAY when the fish is caught weather keeping it or releasing it. Good call Johnny C !!!!

I don't want to stir the pot here but a lot of of the teams fishing the FPT this weekend have one thing on their mind and its not a belly-up fish. I strongly agree with fizzing your fish ASAP and caring for them so we have the chance at them another day. All that can be done is spreading the word.
One thing on their mind
One thing on their mind is not just at an am toc. I have fished numerous proams as an am where the fish were not even looked at until right before bagging the fish for weigh in.
