Navionics for 332C?
Navionics for 332C?
Which Navionics product do you guys recommend for a Lowrance 332C? And, do I need to get two of whichever, one for the bow 322, and one for the console 332? I am having them installed with the Network Cable. Thanks in advance guys!!!

Re: Navionics for 332C?
Don't get any of the navionics, Lowrance has two chips out that will run circles around navionics. One is the NautisPath which will cover the Delta with contour lines and the tides and the other is the Freedom Map F51T it covers the lakes in Ca. also with contour lines. Both Sell for $99.99. I have them both at The Hook and if you still want the Navionics I have 2 left in stock i will sell for cost just to get rid of them. The Hook 925-625-2441 Thanks Gene

Re: Navionics for 332C?
Gene,
In looking at the Lowrance website on the Freedom maps, they don't list the lakes that they cover for NoCal ... Do you know what lakes the F51T chip covers??
I also fish Nacimiento and San Antonio at times as well, will that be on the NoCal chip or will I have to get a SoCal chip as well??

question
are these like the cards that go to the global map 2000? Would they work with the Global map 2000 (I know I should upgrade units)?

Re: Navionics for 332C?
I've been confused by the map chip options also and I want to buy the right chip soon for my lowrance.
on the navionics website you can view the list of available lakes:
http://www.navionics.com/PremiumLakeLis ... &Premium=1
for the lowrance nauticpath, they show a map and imply that it covers all of north america but I can find any specifics on exactly what level of detail you get for what lakes:
http://www.lowrance.com/Mapping/NauticPath/default.asp
for the freedom maps 51T it's a similar deal, they show what section of the US it covers but there's no mention of how detailed the maps are of the lakes.
http://www.lowrance.com/Mapping/Freedom ... t_topo.asp
I'd like to have a map that covers as many lakes as possible throughout CA. The main areas I want are bay area and motherlode. I get the impression that maps don't exist for a lot of the small lakes, but if there is a chip that has smaller lakes around the bay, that would be cool. Can anyone shed some light on what lakes the lowrance chips cover and to what level of detail?
thx

Re: Navionics for 332C?
Scott D.,
Maps from chips cannot be saved in a GPS unit, and they cannot be transmitted through a network cable; so yes, you will need a chip for each unit. The GPS unit runs the map software from the chip to display it on the screen; rather than saving it into memory and then running it.
Only GPS coordinates can be saved in memory of the 332c or any other GPS. The only units that are different are the X111c and X26c, which have a hard drive with all the maps already saved on the hard drive.
The network cable allows multiple units to share an antenna, and various sensor information, but not waypoints or map info.
I don't know if it is possible to copy one map chip onto another blank chip, and it probably isn't legal unless the manufacturer licenses you for more than one unit. Maybe someone else knows some more info about copying chips so you can run them in two units. Otherwise, buy two or only use one and move it to whichever unit you desire to have the map. Frankly, the map doesn't have nearly as much value on the bow as it does on the console, as the map isn't necessary for you to stay on a GPS coordinate with your electric motor...you can save the coordinate and display it regardless of having a map chip.
ciao,
Marc

Re: Navionics for 332C?
CORRECTION ON THE F51T CHIP it does not show the conour lines the chip I ment to say is the Fishing Hot Spots Elite #FHS-W. This chip shows the lakes with contour lines like that on a map.
It covers the following states and their lakes
AZ,CA,CO,ID,MT,NV,PR,WA, AND WA.
The NauticPath chip only covers the US Coastal areas and the Delta just past Sacramento about 10 miles.
These chips fit all Lowrance units where as the Navionics only fit designated units.

Re: Navionics for 332C?
thanks Gene for the additional info.
I do have the Lowrance Fishing Hot Spots Elite Maps (I bought it without first checking to see what lakes it covered, duh.) Here is the list of lakes that it covers:
http://www.lowrance.com/Mapping/FHSelite/west.asp
They also have updated maps on this page that you can download:
http://www.lowrance.com/Mapping/LakeMaps/index.asp
The bummer for me was that those maps don't cover Don Pedro, McClure, Comanche, Tulloch, or New Melones. They do have a Del Valle map but none of the other small bay area lakes like Coyote, San Pablo, San Justo, etc are covered.
The Navionics Gold says it has maps for Don Pedro, McClure and Comanche. The don't have Tulloch or New Melones and like the Hot Maps Elite they have Del Valle but they don't have any other Bay Area lakes.
So as far as I can tell, the best I can do as far as getting Mother Lode and Bay Area lakes is to get Pedro, McClure and Comanche on the Navionics Gold chip. If anyone knows a way to get those on the Hot Maps Elite or on another Lowrance card, I would like to hear about it, but that's all I can figure for now.

The F51T will only give you Northern Ca. Yes you would have to buy the So Ca. chip.
But if you go to the HOT SPOTS Elite chip it has both and gives better detail. As I mention I made a mistake on the chip I think is best. The Hot Spot gives you contour lines the other does not.

Re: Navionics for 332C?
I have been wondering the same thing about copying the chips? I thought I had heard before that it is possible. Has anyone had success with this?
I too have been looking for the right chip, LEI's Hot spots and NauticPath are about the best combo, but I am being told that the new (released recently) Navionics Premium has the all the lakes, the delta, the bay,and the pacific ocean. On the Navionics web site I cannot verify this, the only thing I see is the Premium Charts which is about $450? Anyone have this so called "Premium" chip?
Thanks,
Jeff
