Sea Lion @ Bacon Island

Post by Turkeyman »

Did anyone else hear the traffic report this morning? A sea lion laying across Bacon Island Rd at Hwy 4. Gives new animal control officers a new problem/

Doesn't suprise me, I seen two on Monday (one in downtown Stockton and one in Turner Cut).
Don't ask about my username, all I need to say is check yours and check them often.

It was about a month ago when I saw one of those beasties up the South Moke just up from Sycamore.

Thing is, we all complain about them being there, problem is, they shouldn't be there, they're "SEA LIONS" not "RIVER LIONS".

It's a shame all the coastal fisheries suck and the marine mammals gotta come and eat the linesides and green fish.

Interesting!

Post by Wild Bill »

I visit California almost every May, and we see them all the time down by the bays and beaches around Monterey, going both directions from there, often in great herds basking there, like sunbathers.

Here on the east coast, I never see them around here in the Long Island NY area, just east of NYC, which has beauutiful sand beaches, and the waters are warmed a bit by the Gulf Stream,
Occaisinal Seals, but not Sea Lions nor the numbers of either that I see out west.
I see them also in the Delta, at times too.

Bill- It is a shame the pic's ended on this thread of shooting them BassTurds with a Sniper Setup ... and of the dog retrieving all them !! ~~> http://www.refugeforums.com/refuge/show ... ht=iceland

You can read through it to get the feel of it. This type of Sprotsmanship - along with keeping Nature In Balance is really GREATLY NEEDED here on our Western Fisheries for ALL Species -- and the fisheries themselves just to sustain themselves. But again - Federal Protection and a "Liberal State" rule here.

Same Same for our almost exasperated deer heards Vs. Mountian Lions - Pheasant population due to flooding of the ricelands instead of burning where the predators have easy picking on the checks. - Same for small game as well with the Cotton Tails as well. Now we have more pesticide spraying as well .......

We all now will most likely have the gates installed around Quimby Island ... and very soon the Periphial Cannal as well for getting our water the rest of the state in the intention of exporting food and monies ....... and giving more relief food to impoverished countries like Sudan and the like.

But hey -- America looks good on the front page of a newspaper.

Personally I have Never EVER seen a Govt. reg to "help out a problem" to benifit the wild-life itself here in my years here locally and in the Sierra's and on the Ocean waters ..... Rather - Only to the benifit of the True Predators and the Varmints in the end with green lining their very own pockets. Image

PS- I was at the rally in Antioch where Schartaznager stepped out of the bus at the VFW Hall -- Holding his broom high saying "I am gona SWEEP OUT THE TRASH in GOVT" ..... He is nothing himself - Than a wolf in sheeps clothing that devoured us all with his empty promises and personal agenda in catering to the "south" . -- And I so regret that I went there in support of him and my last two ballots for him. :(
