WON rumors circulating during the BAT

Post by JJCJR »

Based on conversations with tournament directors and from what was heard during the Bass-a-thon, here's are some WON observations we might be able to look forward to in the future:

I. The shared weight program for the Pro circuit will remain in effect as long as Harvey's running the show. Harvey introduced this format and it is unique to WON and very successful. It's had to imagine WON changing to a non-shared weight format on the pro side in the near future.

2. The Pro Circuit Tournament of Champions will be held a mystery lake a few weeks following the last regular Pro Circuit Event. The location will be held in secret but announced in enough time prior to the T of C for participants to prepare. One-day pre-fish prior to the weekend event will be allowed.

3. During the regular Pro Circuit season, the AAA angler will be invited to join the Pro Option offered which is about 100 bucks.

4. The WON BASS teams championship (Tri States Championship) will be held at a lake to be announced (late in the season). It will not be Lake Havasu or Lake Shasta in 2010 but on waters more geographically accessible to all WON BASS regions. The qualifying north and the south will be invited to fish a combined Tri States Championship.

With the resources Western Outdoors News and WON Bass processes, it make sense there will be "some hefty awards " in order for the Teams, the Pro Circuit Champions, the Pro Circuit Angler of the Year as well as the U.S. Open. As on pro was overheard to say at the BAT , Harvey can't change the world in only three days. We'll be hearing more in the days to come.

That all sounds good for the Pro, but what about the payback for the Am’s? Am’s pay roughly half what the Pro’s pay for entry fees but only get roughly 10 to 20% of the award fee back. This is not only with WON Bass but also with the AC. I bring this up not to put down WON Bass or AC but to make it better for the Am’s. Currently only FLW gives back the Co-Angler a fare shack on paybacks! I don’t know Harvey but maybe he can look into that!

Hey Marty, I will speak for Anglers Choice, If you are saying that the Ams only get 10-20 percent payback and that Stren was the only decent payback. I would have to respectively disagree. Below is the first event from last year. Entry was 200.00 and we held back money for the TOC fund. Try like above 80 percent for the payback last years events on the Am Side. The Am TOC paid over 100 percent. Much Higher on the Pro Side. Not looking for a debate, but those are the real numbers. Not bashing, compare those paybacks to any circuit. I firmly believe that all fishing is good . Pick what circuit you like and works for you. I also feel that the FLW is a good deal for the anglers in terms of payback. Sponsors is a whole other issue, but at the end of the day they are a for profit business. Anglers Choice is sticking with our same format from last year. with a few twist like a three day TOC and final event. With some new incentives coming and with Bill Cook as the director, I feel very confident that we will again deliver a great product to the angler. Thanks for listening.

John are you saying that this seasons TOC (Tristates) isn't being held at Havasu? Or are you talking about next year?

The only body of water that is geographically accessible to all WonBass Regions would be the Pacific Ocean.

WON rumors circulating during the BAT

Post by JJCJR »

From what was heard up at the Delta this past weekend, it was Harvey's intention to change the location of 2010 Tri-States to a more "neutral" location for the convenience of both north and south teams.

Sand Bass....I'm on top of that. My problem is fishing enough events to qualify. Are there Sand Bass if S. F. Bay?

The only rumor that I heard at the BAT was that the tournaments WERE NOT going to be $300.

Other than that let's play ball.
