Winter Nutcase Turkey Shoot - Date and Location Set!

Post by tunaman »

Removed poll - this will now be the Winter Nutcase (hangover) Turkey Shoot.

Details are being finalized, but be sure to sign up so we know how many to prepare for.

Any Nutcases are also welcome to our New Years' Eve celebration - we're in Oakley and will be having a lot of food, drinks and fun! PM me for details if you're interested!

Tunaman,

Are you talking about Saturday January 2nd?

I love Berryessa in the Winter but no place close to stay.

Hey Mark! Yeah, if it worked out the New Years' Eve/Day schedule could likely work in our favor, should that be the date we use.

Berry is nice - had a chance to go fish it last year and really liked the lake, and Pleasure Cove had some nice facilities for an extended stay.

Unfortunately, with all the turmoil involving the other resorts there are few options, and as you said there really isn't anything close off the lake. I'm thinking maybe a Spring Nutcase this year, a bit later in the season, to be held there? At least some folks could camp out once the nights warm up a bit, but the lake shouldn't be overly-busy with pleasure craft?

Anyway - we'll see if this works out in the short time we have for planning, or if we push it into the impending new year, based on the responses here.

Hope all is well with you!

Eevn though I'm not sure whats going on here (need to find out what date were doing the Family thing here for x-mass and Dads brithday because his birthday is the 2nd) I voted for  Well you know  That weekend

If this gets setup for a New Years Eve Party and the Nutcase Event I'll MAKE IT HAPPEN ( as long as I can get power to the boat from someones yard     :P 8) ) I REALLY NEED to Get up there H*ll even if it doesn't. I was allready thinking about spending New Years Eve and day up there if I was welcome

I'll try and find out / set up whats going on here for pops today

Oh on a side note if the northern Nutcase Event is not on the Delta this year and on a diff date I'm not sure I'll make it, I really don't went to drive pass the delta if I'm going North. I know for you northern guys driving to a diff place is fine but for me its allready a 6-7hr drive just to the delta and if I drive that far I'm not going pass it I'll be fishing on it 8) instead of driving in the truck pass to a lake :)

Edit: Just Talked it Over with Pop's I'm going to set up our deal for the 9 or 10th and if the family wents to come before they can just come and see Pop's (its really his day anyways and they can see me for years to come) So I'm coming up north for New Years

Sweet Mark - love to get to spend more time with you and Allie (if I recall correctly?!?) this time around.

Regardless whether this becomes the Winter Nutcase, or just a New Years' blur and hangover turkey shoot, it is on so plan on it!

Guess I'll have to start a sign-up of some sorts, whether this becomes the Winter Nutcase or not...

Well, this is the year of the Traeger (for me), so we'll put it to good use once again. Right now I'm thinking (drooling) about the ribs we did for Melinda's birthday party (3 full racks of baby backs) and have a craving for more, so that is on the list. May also have to do some other stuff... perhaps another turkey, or some other delectible meat product, and the usual trimmings. PM your work schedule so I know when to call?

What about Sun 12/27? I'll be in CA leaving Mon 12/28. Everyone gets a chance to use their new toys while the wife is out returning things or shopping for after Xmas deals at the malls.

Not true... Cooch was telling me just yesterday about one held at Berryessa a few years back.

However, given that there is overwhelming support for the Delta event scheduled around the New Year's weekend, and that there is little time to vacilate between sites or dates, we're going to go for the Delta this time around.

The (Northern) Winter Nutcase event will be held on Saturday, January 2 2010, and details will be forthcoming.

I've put together a sign-up form - please get your information in ASAP so that I can make the proper arrangements for those interested in coming out to play:

http://www.tunaman.org/web/Winter_Nutcase_Signup.htm

I'd also like to schedule a Spring Nutcase this season, and take it to one of the other area lakes like Berryessa, or Pedro, or whatever is most popular... stay tuned for that one once Winter breaks.

In the mean time, I hope many of you will plan to attend this year's Winter Nutcase and kick the new year off right!

I thought Richard Marchini, rally winner, got to pick the destination of the winter Nutcase? Guess we're dispensing with that tradition. I'll try to go where ever it's held, but I think we're kind of in a Delta-Folsom rut on the Winter gathering.

sTony

No way I convince you guys to do this in a warmer climate; like maybe Bacarrac!!! J/K

That's fine - if that's the case, we'll just call it the Winter Nutcase Turkey Shoot... doesn't matter to me. If you recall, however, that isn't how it ended up working last year.

If Richard wants to make the call on the official Winter Nutcase that's welcome... let me know what if there's something I can do to assist with the coordination?

Meanwhile, there's enough interest in the 1/2/2010 date that I'll proceed with the coordination. Thanks to those who have already signed up, and if you haven't already done so and plan (or hope) to attend please do so in order for me to account for grub and such.

Right you are Mr. sTony... how long do we give Richard to chime in/make a the decision before majority rules??

Or else as as Tunaman put it... this will just be a Nutcase Turkey shoot... hehehe ;o)

I'm leaning towards taking Tony's suggestion and letting the Winter Nutcase develop on its own, and just calling this the Nutcase New Year's Turkey Shoot (if it needs a title) and moving on. We've had some pretty good interest, and a lot of sign-ups already, so the event will be on regardless. I was going to see about getting the usual trophies out of pocket, but don't think time will permit. I'll hit up some of my contacts to see if I can round up a few trinkets for awards and we'll do it that way, and then plan on having a shindig here at the house afterward for celebration and socialization.

Numb Nut should be in play either way...

And Mike - now is probably not too early to start planning the Southern Nutcase Winter/Spring event? I don't expect a lot of folks up here to plan on travelling down, but there should be enough interest from the guys down there to get one set up. All it takes is someone to coordinate and get the interest started...

I'll be putting the details together this coming week - I had a chance to speak with Tony yesterday to discuss the matter.

I'll put them on paper, post them up, and also send to all the registrants via their email.

We'll have some fun and get the new year started off right!

Just go to the back of Disco (either side) and throw jigs, senko's, dropshot, cranks, spinnerbaits, inchi wacky or grubs on a dart head. Heck if you have SI just drive around until you see some activity like blue gill, crappie, shad or bass. Everything pretty much schools up and is fairly predictable back there. Lots of fish suspending under/around docs in the winter.

Always... we never leave anyone at the dock. I got your entry, and will update the roster tonight.

I also spoke with Lisa at Russo's today, and we're set up with the great Russo's hospitality for the event. I'll finalize a few more details and get them emailed and posted tomorrow.

Looks like this is going to be another great time to be had by all!
