Stripers 1/3/10

Post by crawdaddy »

Hit the fog out west but caught a few. 13 fish landed and several more lost at the boat and 1 break off. biggest fish caught was 5lbs, most in the 2-4 pound range. Just tossin swimbaits in the flats a lot of fun and no need to burn a lot of gas. On the water at 7:30 off by 2:00. Fish here, fish there tide did not seem to matter. Only 1 place produced more than 1 fish. 1 4lb squawfish as well.
I would rather jog home from my own Vasectomy than spend Saturday at the mall.

Good report. I went out above rio vista and it was dead yesterday but I heard it was the same as your report around the first. A few fish hanging on still.

Marked alot of stripers yesterday in Hog sl. suspended around 10'-12' in 15 to 18' feet of water 20' off the rocks. I packed very light and only had a Jig rod, Rip bait and a DS rod with some spare baits in my pocket.

BrothA Todd Dunlapp caught the lone LM @ 3-4' of water on a swimming jig down past some pump outlets in the muddy water we fished on the way back down the moke.

I never got a nibble on the jig/pork, rip and DS up there. But got two 2.5 -3 pounders on the jig in tidal eddy pockets from Jersey near the bottom of the low tide in tulie clumlps on rocks - and marked alot of suspended fish at the drop-offs.

Never marked any bait balls at all yesterday...... Even around Jersey. :?
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Fished WAY out west near Pittsburg on Sunday. Soaked some anchovies and not one nibble. Started jigging with a spoon and landed 4 legals within an hour. Go figure.. I didn't think stripers were that picky.

Dan,

Sorry I did not say that the fish were stripers. I did not catch a single LMB. We ripped for about 30 minutes but just did not feel like buckling down for the LMBs. Sorry for not being specific.
