I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the earth move under my feet
Was just told there was another quake out there today - no details on where. Hope everyone's ok. That's one thing I don't miss about living there. The Sylmar quake in '72 was my first rodeo - lived on N. Fairfax between Sunset and Hollywood, and it wasn't even that bad there! Prayers sent for your safety.

Re: I feel the earth move under my feet
A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California Saturday afternoon, shaking buildings south of the Oregon border and knocking out power in several coastal communities.
The powerful quake hit at about 4:27 p.m. PST about 22 miles from Ferndale, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Authorities in the nearby city of Eureka and other area communities said no major injuries have been reported. But several people received minor cuts and scrapes from broken glass at the Bayshore Mall in Eureka, fire spokesman Gary Bird said.
"There are some frayed nerves, but I think we've come through this pretty well for the magnitude of earthquake we've had," he said.
No major structural damaged had been reported

The wife's sister and husband live in Eureka, we have had a hell of a time getting in touch with them( even on cell). Brother in Law works for PG&E he has been working nonstop since it hit. There is supposed to be some pretty large aftershocks today.

Re: I feel the earth move under my feet
IT WAS A GOOD ONE!!!!
I live in McKinleyville (about 10 miles N of Eureka) It was a pretty good shake for about 10 seconds. I got up from the couch and walked into my kitchen figuring that my 100+ bottle beer collection was going to take a tumble, not a one fell (HOORAY!) I walked out on my porch and you could see everything moving, it was a really wierd experience.
Some minor damage in homes and businesses but nothing serious.
Now I've got a good earthquake under my belt.
