Stripers 1/15/10

Post by crawdaddy »

Bright skies, light tides, no wind equals a tough bite for stripers for me. Went out west again and only had 2 bumps on the swimbait all morning. Went out farther west on the Sac with no luck. Came back to the break and fished black bass for about 2 hours with no luck. Got some clouds around 2pm and the fish began to bite. caught 7 stripers to 6 pounds and a monster squawfish that was every bit of 6 pounds. Lost several others boatside (too light of a rod for the swimbait I was using). Stayed until dark and fished the last of the daylight with one nice blow up on the spook but could not ignite the school. GPS backlight went out so the ride though the break back to the marina in the dark was spooky but I made it OK.
I would rather jog home from my own Vasectomy than spend Saturday at the mall.

Great report and that sounds like a pretty scary ride back to the marina with no GPS!
