$$REWARD FOR MY TOYOTA TRUCK: UPDATE-TRUCK RECOVERED,THANKS

Post by davet. »

Some bottom feeding parasite stole my 85 Toyota 4 wheel drive on the morning of January 17. It's blue in color with matching camper shell and a Warn winch on the front. License # 3T31146 It has 2 stickers on the back of the shell "POWERSKOOP" and "OWNER fish hooks" and the right rear mud flap was missing.
Taken in the North Highlands, Antelope area.
Watch for these parts, it had a front straight axle, 22RE engine with EFI, automatic transmission, Warn winch, blue body parts.
It's kinda oxidized and not real pretty, but I've had it for 23 years and it's never let me down.
Call me with where I can find it and I'll hand you $500 or more if it's still in one piece.

Thanks.

Thanks Jonathon, I spent 3 hours driving around rio linda, elverta, north highlands, etc. Like a needle in a haystack.
I'm sure it's getting ripped apart, it's such desirable 4 wheeler, big market for the parts.

Chop shops along U Street in the metal buildings. Be careful they are bad dudes. It is probably chopped and shipped to other sources by now.

Good luck and I hope you find it - sounds like a great truck. My dad had a totally decked out 2008 Ford F350 4x4 that was stolen the day before Thanksgiving out of Laredo, Texas. It's incredible the number of trucks fitting the same description that are stolen down there. Supposedly they're poular for hauling illegals across the border.

Dave,

No reward necessary as long as we get to watch the cops pummel the guy who took it.

Best of luck to you in finding it. Unfortunately, I had a car stolen and when I did get it back, it was so messed up that I did not event want it anymore.

A hex on the/those scumbag(s) who took it.

Thanks guys. I'll guarantee my next 4 wheeler will have one of those hidden GPS devices in it and I'd love to find it before the cops do.

A few years back, I bought a "Club" type device for the steering wheel at a $.99 store for around $8.00...I slap it on everytime I park somewhere...Cheap security and hopefully I'll keep being successful...Just don't ever lose the key, you get two...

UPDATE, TRUCK HAS BEEN FOUND!!
CHP called today and said they recovered it and it's at the impound yard. There's no report of damage, but we'll see when I get their tomorrow. Hopefully the winch is still their and they didn't take it airborn too much.
Thanks for all the support and I'll definitely look into that cell phone thing. I've heard of it before, now I'm gonna do it.
I just wish they didn't have to impound it cuz it's kinda like getting screwed twice. They could have just called me when they found it, I would have come right out.
But thumbs up to the cops for a job well done. It was gone less than 2 days. I'm pretty happy now, but we'll see for sure tomorrow if there's any damage.

Yeah, the store has tool type merchandise in the store I go to and somethings are more than $.99...I don't think they claim everything in the store is $.99 so it's not false advertising...Better than spending $30 or so for the Club...

Keep us posted, I am interested as to where it was found and the condition. I am glad you at least recovered the vehicle and if there is anything loss on it insurance should cover it.

Good deal! Hope it's ok.

I had my truck stolen out there and they found it about 6 months later - in Watts! I had to go pick it up from a garage with a crabby old guy and two really mean rottwielers chained up to a big tire rim. I discovered it was stripped (no surprise) and didn't run (surprise), so my boyfriend had to tow me home. He had a '54 Ford pickup with bad brakes and we towed my F150 with bad brakes on a log chain all the way from Watts to Ontario. And we didn't crash, kill anyone or even get pulled over! It was a white knuckle ride I'll never forget.

Got it back near Elverta Rd and Sorento Rd (west end near the railroad tracks). Ash was dead on and I spent about 8 hours over 2 days driving thru everyone of those streets and chop shops. Saw some real "classy" people. I musta come within a mile of it without knowing. Lots of closed doors on those rows of tin shops.
Anyway, it's mostly intact.
They hacksawed the battery holder out and took the battery, rifled thru all the personal stuff and took a sleeping bag, 1 speaker (?), knife, small crap like that.
Also tried to get the catalytic but I had it enclosed in a security device (catclamp.com), so they hacked on some cable, sawed part way thru the pipe and gave up. Half the lugnuts are gone like they were gonna take the fairly new tires but left em on for some reason.
So I gotta fix the battery mount, replace the battery, weld the hole in the pipe, replace one catclamp cable they hacked on, replace lugnuts. So far that's all I can see. Maybe more once I get a closer look after the weather clears.

Dave one last thing, is your registration and insurance info still in the glove box? Also do you keep any type of personal information that has your social security number, check book, old visa card etc...?

The reason why I am asking is I had my vehicle broken into and they took only items relating to identity, within hours they were bangin on my credit wrote bad checks against an account I had closed for a year etc... with your police report you are entitled to free credit report runs, I would also contact your bank to ensure that all accounts are OK.

Scum of the earth, I would love to catch these guys as neighbors we need to be diligent on who is in our neighborhood and let the unwanted folks know that they are not welcomed  Thats why I walk my pitty at night
