more than we need...

Post by jigginpig »

there are too many baits. too many sizes, colors, and styles.

too much hype, too much groupthink, too many bandwagons.

oh well, folks gotta make a living.

i even think about starting a company sometime!

Even with the plethora of baits out there it's amazing that I go to the tackle shop and the same pegs of certain colors of Senkos are almost always empty.

That is just rediculous when the pegs are empty. Your grocery store does not run out of Best Foods Mayo or Milk or someone will lose thier job. If you sell five times more of one color than you should have 5 pegs of that one or restock throughout the day. You should never run out of your bread and butter items becuase it forces your customers to go elsewhere.

it took me years to start drop shotting, and now i catch quite a few fish that way...

one thing i am trying to do is to stick to proven baits. i am not an early adopter of new baits, i like to let them be proven by the market before i will invest time, effort, and money. i guess i miss the boat in some cases, but i have faith that my basic tactics will keep catching fish. and i also try not to be too dogmatic about it.

another thing in my favor on this is the fact that there is a lack of educated angler pressure in my area, so by the time i get arround to a tactic, it is quite possible it is still new to my fish... we have a lot of anglers, but there are not nearly as many hard core, up to date cats here as other areas in the country, like Cali, for example!

But sometimes its the supplier that is out of that color.
