LUCKY CRAFT "GLASS" CRANKING ROD ?

Post by WANNA HOOK BIGGIN'S »

Has anyone used these yet? The 7' med fat mini magic got a great review on TT and the price seems to fall below some of the other sticks in this category. I have a Lami 705xcf and I love it but I want another glass cranking rod for the delta and I am looking at this rod and the Phenix X10. Any and all opinions on this are appreciated.

The LC rods are VERY nice. I've handled many of them in different tackle shops and all the rods that I've held looked and felt great. The Phenix rods I've only handled at one tackle shop and I was not impressed with the quality.

I think that the Phenix rod is too "whippy" and feels like a noodle compared to the LC rods.

I bought a used Fat Mini off BiteMe here on Westernbass to try out and I am thoroughly impressed with it. It has a very fast action and stout backbone. I can cast speed traps all the way to BDS cranks with it with ease. Great components with the SIC guides. Highly suggested rod. I will own another of these rods soon.

I found the M/H version of this rod at the SAC ISE show. The BTD booth had a couple. I compared it to the Phenix X10 and the Dobyn's glass 705CB. The Lucky Craft compared favorably to the Dobyn's in quality components/looks and how they felt. Both have a fast tip for a glass rod. The Lucky Craft may have even been nicer than the Dobyn's. I can see why they say the LC is a steal at $150 and the MSRP is $350. Does anyone have experience with both Dobyn's glass rods and Lucky Craft glass rods? If so, can you share your opinion.

Thanks
