I cannot imagine it being at Isabella....That would b a 5 hour drive from San Diego and almost a 3 hour drive for Los Angeles.

I thought this was suppose to be a economical trail.

The only economically and geopgraphically fair lake would be Lake Hodges. Hour south of the Anaheim (Temecula guys) and 45 minutes North of San Diego.

WHere I could see it being is The River or Havasu.

Not economical but FUN!

My vote...Hodges!

Vail Lake BABY! That would be a treat and just put it offlimits for a week or so if any members qualify. Rick G.

Hey Guys - nothing is set yet. I am going to begin working on these hard this week.

Vail lake was an option and I liked it - but, we spoke with them and there are several problems with doing it at Vail. However, Vail has some potential in future events - Just not this one.

I really hate not saying - but, truth is we don't know. I am doing visits at lakes, contacting lakes and working with the DFG. I have some ideas and I think I had a great one yesterday.

We will not make someone drive 5 hours for a regional. We don't want you to have to sleep anywhere but, your own bed until you are guaranteed money. Now if you want to prefish and save an hour or two drive and stay overnight that is up to you - but, the idea is each local and regional lake will be a 1 relatively easy day trip (for the actual event - not counting however you decide to handle prefish)

I will give you SOME of the lakes we are looking at - so you can get an idea of the TYPICAL travel we would expect for a Regional

Region 2
Isabella is on the table
Lopez is on the table
Santa Margarita is on the table.
There are NO clear cut favorites at this time.

All regions can expect similar travel requests -

Region 2 anglers are LA to SLO(ish) anglers -
Isabella - should be within 2 hours from any spot in this region

Lopez should be about 2 hours and no more than 2.5 hours from the furthest reaching spots of this region.

Santa Margarita should be about 2 hours and no more than 2.5 hours from the furthest reaching spots of this region.

We'd love to have it really close to everyone - but, 4 regions for this giant state means there could be a few hours to the lake and few hours home. Still doable for a days fishing. I do 2.5 hours to Clear Lake and 2.5 hours home all the time and its very doable.

Does this sound fair?

I guess I better do some broadband "Recon" as well - don't need my *** handed to me again for something NOBODY could do for a reasonable amount of money.

Hey Hippie - first off, it was good to see you today.
Second off - congrats to Team Dead Money's Guy on the win.

Last, tell Pete he's still got Perris, Otay or El Cap to get another crack at Guy and you at the Regionals!

The bite sounded brutal out there - When I saw a few boats come off the water early with no fish I knew we were in for a tough one. But, some guys hung in there and got enough to get them to the next round.

As for the cheese - I say keep doing what you did today. All the names are available early - so someone can make as sheet and fish for as much as you want. We all do it on the golf course and for fun. Next year I will work on a full option pool. This year we don't want to change mid-stream. Some guys like the fact they don't have the pressure to pony up another pocket full of money.

It was nice to see we had at least 1 angler out there today that was in his first event. I was happy to hear that. Hopefully, that means 1 more angler to fish against in all the other events... No I don't mean take his money - but, just another angler in this great sport of ours. That was part of the reason for this thing - and its good to see it actually happening. I can't thank the anglers enough for showing up and fishing this thing. We do our best to make it fun and an experience a little different than other events.

By the way - My hat is off to all the anglers - just under 40 boats in and 40 boats out solo launching and no problems - still beat the public out and I didn't hear one negative word!!! THANK YOU ALL for that, I truly have lost a lot of sleep worrying about that - and it seems to be working out at least decently!!!

Hippie - see you in SD!

$50.00 is fine with me. Jason you should change your name from Hippie to Mister French cause you really are Guy's butler. I can hear it now, "Jason, time to rub the bunions". BTW, since you dont fish at least you can cook next time. Vail lake Tom. Get it done! Rick G.

I was going to say/suggest - What's wrong w/ DVL for the fishoff? But then I realized that's why I did not fish it yesterday- motor too old and could not find a loaner.

But then again, I did see some boats as old, if not older, than my '87 Skeeter. Do they not pay attention when they have the older motors anymore, or were they all mostly upgraded? I say 'mostly' as I saw an older 115 Merc on one old Skeeter, just like mine!!!?

Tom did a great job, he was soooooooooooooo bummed about the computer w/ the phone hookup not being able to connect, thus not broadcast. He tried to get it running between each boat stopping to weigh fish while apologizing profusely about it not working to anyone within hearing range.

No Lake Elsinore for two reasons:

1. Really can't handle 40 boats.
2. I don't want to have to wash your fingerprints off my fish.

+1 and I fished the DV event! and I am off to cachuma WED night. I also live down the street from Team Davis ( 30 miles or so)

Give E'M hell Steve and Delaynn we drive way to much for the sport we love so much, I have no simpathy for any one that has to drive less than a hour to a lake complaining about a 2 hour drive.

DV is 3 hours and cachuma is 3.5 hours but I go to compete! on any lake at anytime!! those of you who really know me: know this.

Guy Great Job sorry I didnt stick around as it was it took 4.5 hour to get home because of traffic and I left as soon as possiable to try and beat it, (did'nt work)

Yep Hippie I agree
I work the shuttle when it lands here and alot of my friends that come out from Florida to work the shuttle are going to lose their jobs, the bad thing is most were going to tranfer to the constallation program, and with that being Canx, they very well be out of work, I dont think most americas know how big this program was and the numbers it affects, Personnelly It sucks I think the space program just took a step backwards.

I dont really have to worry my primary job involves high performance aircraft. I only work the shuttle when its lands here.
, and that will be the end of an era that I will be proud to say I was involved in, when the last shuttle flight lands.

best of wishes/luck to all involed with the program cancellations.
