Cumara or Crucial one more ??

Post by meach »

I just recently purchased the Stradic CI4 42500 and this is my first year that i have decided to break down and purchase some higher end gear for myself, and i am debtating which rod to purchase. My budget does not allow me to purchase 3 or 4 differnet set ups so which rod would be a better "all purpose" performer, the
cumara CUS68MH or the crucial CRS66MH, i mostly fish wieght less worms or senkos and will throw buzz baits or small cranks. Also which one is lighter?

You would be better off going with the CUS68M or CRS66M. The MH is going to be too powerful for weightless plastics. It will not load well with smaller and lighter baits. The CUS68M has plenty of power and will work for several applications.

No need to name your kid after me. Just make sure he or she uses Shimano when they are old enough.

Bantam,
I recently bought the cumara 6"8 m, just amazing rod for wieghtless worms and light split shotting, this season i really want to improve on my jig fishing, can my CUS68M handle the larger 1/2 oz jigs or would i be better off springing for another rod (CUS68MH)?

Why are you fishing 1/2 ounce jigs on a spinning rod? I would think you would have more control and accuracy with a casting rod.

The 68M can handle 1/2 ounce but the MH might be a better choice.

Havent made a full crossover into baitcasting gear yet..fished for mostly walleye and northerns for 20 years all on spinning gear..so i guess its just my comfort level with spinning gear is lil higher than baitcasting..for now..but thanks for your opinion, appreciate it. Slowly cleaning out the spinning gear.....

Go with the cumara medium since you are spending some money and getting a good rod that you can use for shaky when you upgrade to casting for your jigs.

I made the changeover about 18 mos ago and even on all my pike I never break out the spinning unless it is finesse fishing.

You will be very thankful for casting gear if you plan to throw 1/2oz+ all day and you will soon wish you would have made the change when you were fishing pike...believe me...and I love catchin pike!
