No, that reel should be seen. This may have damaged the idle gears. Feel free to give me a call if I can help, or you can send in to Shimano directly.

It might be in need of the line guide upgrade. You can send it directly to us for repair or to Dan. I think he has the parts.

The level wind is jumping and it makes a popping sound? I had the exact same problem and the upgrade fixed it.

Since you are close you can also bring it by for repair.
