Costa Del Mar Wave 580s

Post by Micropterus salmoides »

I'm finally going to buy a pair of 580s. The frame on my Ocean Waves presses on my temples making them uncomfortable and the polarized lens have this weird surreal effect on the surroundings.

I know I want the green mirror lens. Any particular frames preferred by anglers?

I like the Wave Killers and Harpoons. For sight fishing, I like the Pescadors. You will LOVE the 580 lenses.

The Wave Killers are my favorite. I have a pair with 580 Green Mirror lenses for fishing and a pair with 580 Gray lenses for everyday use. They are EXTREMELY comfortable. Costa has a HUGE selection of frames and lenses. Here is their website: Costa Del Mar. It lets you select the frame and lens and shows you a picture of your selection.

I have the wave killers with green 580 lenses and the wave killers with blue 580 lenses. It seems like The blue lenses are the clearest under most conditions for me.

They are amazing lenses. Almost impossible to scatch. I suggest looking at their website for a frame style that you might like. They have the lense sizes and frame sizes on the web. It let you know if they are going to be giant or small on your face. One of your best bets it to go to a dealer of Costas and try some of the styles on even if they dont have the 580 lense, It atleast lets you know how the glasses fit and can use the frames you found or the knowlwdge on how their sizing works, I.E ; maybe you fit better into a Medium/Large size, or you might need XL size. It will atleast give you an idea, unless you know already. Then order the 580 lense in what fram you determined.

Their website has a ton of info to help you on the lense color also.

Can't agree w/ RJ more.

580's are the best out there...clearest glass material made.

I have the Pescador series...good for someone w/ a large head. Lol

Scott,
could the copper be worn all year long even in bright sun? The reason I ask is I currently have Oakleys but have been thinking of getting a pair of Costa's with the 580 copper mainly because I have read that they are excellent for sight fishing and can be worn even in bright sun. Whats your thoughts on that?

Gator,
Do the vent holes on the Fathoms prevent them from fogging up?

I had the Blackfin 580’s great lenses but too tight on my temples and I hated having my side vision blocked while driving home pulling the boat. Bought them at Texas BPS and took them back to Manteca BPS. Poor customer service huh? Now I have the Harpoon C-Mates with the 1.75 bifocal. I can see my GPS clearly and tie without a problem.
