Mercury Mechanic

Post by skkbomb »

Who is the best Mercury Mechanic? I have an 2004 Optimax 200 and i'm only running on 5 cylinders. I'm going to check for the obvious, but was wondering who the best mechanic is in the Central Valley. I'll drive 3-4 hour to get to the best! Any help or input would be great. Thanks in advanced!

You won't find a better mechanic than Calvin Burns(Formerly Oasis Marine, now redding Yamaha). They service Mercury, Evinrude and Yamaha. The shop is in Redding but, well worth the drive.

My nod goes to Eric Simon at Simon Motorsports. He's down south in Ramona, outside San Diego. From all I've heard, Calvin can't be beat as well. My motor was built by Eric, so either he wrenches on it or I do...

There are many good tech's. I get 2 to 4 questions a year on "problem" engines. Ones that have been in the shop many times for the same issue. I send these straight to Calvin Burns. He always fixes them. One time it did take two tries with a funky electrical deal. All others were fixed first time. Merc Master Tech for many years.

If your local tech doesn't fix it and it's a problem, send it to Calvin. He actually loves to get these. He likes the challenge.

Southern California - take it to Anglers Marine...

Central California - C&C Marine gets my vote...

Delta area - Inland Marine gets the nod for sure!

I have heard great things about Calvin, so f he is in your area code that would be a great choice.

Calvin or Phillip.

I still have a dealer in the area who was supposed to order a part to fix an oil leak (after a $700 service) and I am still waiting on the part 2 years later! Very poor follow up.

The number one place I would go is to Bob's Marine. They do very good work and they stand by all their work. They are OK in my book! If you are around Modesto give them a call at 209-551-2165.

Great, Thanks for all the input. It's nice to know that there are a couple of very well respected mechanics out there. Thanks again, this is great info. I'll definetly be storing a couple of numbers in the trusty Blackberry.
