Laser Lure: Fact or Hype

Post by hockeyplayer »

Just wondering if those of you who have tried those Laser Lures have found them to be effective or is the laser concept hype? Also, how long do they last? A few months? Indefinitely?

Never used 'em, have no plans to use 'em. The battery lasts for 80 hours; apparently it knows when it's in the water and then the laser lights up.

Seems like a gimmick to me.

Im with Dan on this one. Im sure they catch fish, but I dont think that the laser is necessary. Iaconelli didnt even use them in the classic, obviously he doesnt even have 100% confidence with them. I may pick one up just to see if I see any significant difference, but from what I have read and heard, very gimmicky, like dan said.

Yeah that lying mofo said that he was catching them on the Laser Lure but he was not..
Hence the reason why he hhid his bait from the camera everytime he boated a fish..

The only time I had luck with a lure like this is when I suckerd into the "strobe lure". Same thing as the laser lure imao just made before the laser. It worked for me a couple of times walking the dog at night. So ya, I bought that like laser bought Ike. I think all the lures out there will work it is just a matter of when and ware you use them. But I would say put your $$$ twords something els.

This thing doesn't need to work for the company to make millions. The lure that had the string in it that made the prop would push it a few inches after you stopped reeling didn't work for me, but I have about 10 that I got as gifts, from wife and kids that thought they were neat. bottom line is if they sell 10,000,000 as gifts they made lotsa money work or not. How many bud. lures do you think were sold many years ago? I have so many of these type gimmick lures that I have never used but have saved to try when I retire and don't have much to do.

Years ago I was fishing a draw tournament on the Delta, We were flipping tulie lines and I was doing pretty well. The guy with me had a whole box of the flying Lures and hadn't been bit. About one oclock he asked me if he could borrow a jig from me. I said sure but why? Because these suckers are taking their last flight, and with that he threw the whole box into the tulies.

Subject came up at Bass University. Ike said it was just one more strike enducer like vibration, rattles, etc. He didn't make any unreasonable claims for it.

I think we get that, but the commercial makes it sound like that's all you need. I know it's advertising, but to tout it in the end of the classic and not look like you use it.
It's a gimmick. Like the other lures mentioned it will work sometimes, but it's probably not a good idea to stick with it.

One other thing I am glad Ike has mellowed his act. No breakdancing or screaming at the classic. That sure was getting old.

I'd rather him freak out that do that stupid spitting thing he does. What is he spitting for? It's just a strange thing to do.

I started selling the laser lure last year it does catch fish, but not like the speed trap, lucky craft and others. Its just a hype in my opinion. Anyone want a deal on some.

All CB's catch fish if fished enough in the right areas. Yea some work better than others. I have caught fish on a ton of differant CB's and have found the only way they work is if you throw em. Im sure the Lazer Lure catches fish but is it the lazer or just the fact that the bite has been on CB's. Would you have caught one on a Lucky Craft if you threw it in the same spot, probebly. If it is the right color and you cast and retreive it properly you will catch fish.

Just my 0.02.

Game show host Chuck Woolery bought the rights to the MotoLure...The one with the string activating it and usually he comes out every Xmas on HSN or QVC to sell it...Usually sells out pretty quick...

A friend and I bought a few and had the diving lips fall off. Never caught any fish on them either, I think it's all gimmick. Some people will say anything to make a buck, true or not.

It is a gimmick, but, I shined a laser in a fish tank with a 3lb bass
in it and the bass hit it so hard and fast that I never did it again.
I didn't want him to hurt himself (or herself).

I bought a square billed one and threw it with a buddy of mine at Irvine in the shallow bushes and I caught a few fish. The quality of the cranks are up there with some of the more expensive brands, problem is if you live near the beach the moisture in the air sets off the lazer and drains the battery. That reminds me I need air tight boxs. I give em a 6 out of a possible 10...

last year, when i first heard about the laser lure, i went to their website and watched the videos of them shining a red laser pointer inside an aquarium and the fish chasing it and i decided to try the same thing. i have a catfish and a bluegill in my tank and they both went absolutely nuts. my catfish—who is normally very docile and shy—was chasing the dot all over the place. my bluegill would even ram himself into the glass to get to it. now, i have no idea how this translates to a lure but i am intrigued.
