Don't buy the resold HDS-5s quite yet!

Post by Old dog »

Talked to an employee at BPS to day about another issue and asked how the sale on the HDS-5s went. He said it was crazy and there was some minor pushing and shoving in the get a # line. He also mentioned they are trying to get more at the same price and he sounded like it was a pretty good posibility. So before you buy one from a scalper, wait a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Came from a good source! Of course scalpers don't want any mention of it.

not true at all.....No pushing or shoving for anything.. All but 2 tickets were handed out before the store even opened. 5 people at a time were allowed in to process their purchase. It went extremely smooth and as soon as the doors did open the last 2 tickets were handed out..

100% positive this deal will not happen again....This was a kink in a contract that Lowrance had to abide by....

Your source is bunk.....

If hippie hasnt sold his yet I don't know whats going on. One of the ones I got I posted friday night and was sold and payed for sat. morning, took the money and ordered a 7 right away. I doubt BPS will be getting more at the same price, it was a screw up by lowrance and I'm sure they wern't happy about selling them that cheap. But if they do have them again I will be there waiting to get a few more, I'll be able to sell the one I have now and the others to get an 8 or 10 on the cheap!

He's more of an opportunist then a scalper. He's still selling it for about $150 less (including tax) then what they retail for.

If you wanted one for cheap or anyone else for that matter you should have been out there freezing with the rest of us. I was out there way earlier then I had to be but that was ok since I had a good time BS'ing with everybody.

There was a lot of bad information prior and during the sale from BPS employees about these units so I would have to say that manager you talked to is mis-informed unless its an identical circumstance as the last one.
If Lowrance gave them a bunch of more units to sell at that price then there would be a lot of pissed off merchants that can't get them that cheap and besides it would devalue the entire line of Lowrance fishfinders.

I didnt see any pushing and shoving but there was a heated exchange between 2 people at the Manteca store. Someone was accused of cutting in line and the profanities and arguing started. Sad, especially in front of a few small kids. Neither one of them ended up getting a unit.

The guy that was trying to cut was a tool. He got there at 6am and was confronted about cutting he said he was waiting for the store to open, lol  All in all it was a good crowd.

At the Rancho store, there was no pushing and shoving of any kind. In fact, people in line were mostly friendly and just trading stories. I probably would never do it again but it was fun and I was able to get a good fishfinder for a fantastic price. I actually remarked to the person next to me how everybody was pretty relaxed everybody.
