Looking to buy a used boat, Dealers trade-ins?

Post by Dom »

I am looking for a 96 or newer 18' Champion(no bigger /no smaller) with a Yammie or Merc 150 hp or bigger (would prefer 175-200) boat must look decent be solid and run great :D

I got $7,000 cash not looking to finance, I am looking for a cash deal I give you the cash you give me the pinks.

Just thought I would post on here seeing how alot of the dealers here in NOR-CAL check in from time to time.

If not, thanks I will just keep stacking my cash.

I would give Inland Marine in Antioch a call and see if they still have that used Champion for sale and see what they will do.

Thanks Jeff thats perfect only prob is they want 14,000 for it I would not feel right about offering half and right now 7000 is all I got. I should have 10,000 in another month so if its still there then I would offer $10,000 :D :D :D

But yea that exactly what Im looking for maybe just a couple years older and 7,000 might have worked.

More than what you've got right now, but I just noticed Hillside Honda in Lakeport has a 18X Stratos with a 175 on it with less than 100 hrs. Its a 2004 and I think they are asking 14,500.

Thanks yall !

Dan S this will be the last boat I buy for the next 10-12 years so holding out for a Champion you just cant beat the ride and handling of a Champ. I have owned 2 Stratos and a Champ in the past and the Champ will run circles around a Stratos :D

Thanks

Hey Dom,
I feel for you on the price range, no financing, etc.

I can't direct you specifically for a place to look, but stay diligent you'll find something.

Thanks Len and bassmandan

I aint to worried about it I will just hold out till next month and then ill have 10g's. In this economy I am hoping to find somthing in the 12-14g range and offer 10,000 cash shouldn't be a problem.

Yea no financing I hate bills and a boat is nothing more then a hole you throw your money into so I want it paid for LMAO :D :D I can use that payment money I would be throwin away every month and invest in new sonars, lower unit with low water pick-up, Jack plate, blue printed prop,etc.... :D :D :D

There is a nice Champion 190 in the classifieds right now. Looks like a great boat, and may be negotiable as its an older model with newer motor and electronics.
Fishing should be fun.

Dom, I own a 1992 Champion w/175 Rude 18'-4 and LOVE IT!!!

you are so right about the ride, and w/the 175 on it, it moves pretty good for a shorter boat. I have have more people stop and want to talk about this old (but new looking) that it has "sold" me on Champs for good I think. I picked up this boat about three years ago for under six grand and it never had a fish put in the live well and had only been in the water five times. My point is, the deals are out there, stick to your guns brother!!

WOW Timber! Nice ride dude! Thats was a SCORE! Find me a deal like that :D Yea I owned a 91 Champion 206 that boat was the best boat ever. It had a 225 Yammie on it I had Lyle rebuild for me and it never gave me a problem. I would still have that boat today but I was forced to sell it when my wife had the heart attack @ 37yo. (medical bills) So you can bet I am holding out for another Champ just hoping to find one by the end of March my son and I want to fish the FPT this year. :D

The problem I am finding is I cant find no good deals on an 18' I have found countless great deals on 19' and up. But the wife and I bought our 1st house late in life the plan was to get in for 2 years then sell for a profit and get the home we really wanted but the housing market fell apart so Im stuck in my old little house and my drive way is only big enough for an 18' and thats pushing it  And I dont see the market coming back anytime soon so I am stuck and limited on space

I've got a 1997 181 with an Intruder 150 and it flies!....handles like a racecar! is not the most stable fishing deck....but nothing drives better! SUPER CLEAN, lot's of upgrades and options, custom trailer (will fit in a small garage), been garaged etc. has a couple things to make it "not-perfect" Make me a realistic offer and I might sell it!
