Science panel says Delta pumping restrictions are justified

Post by Glenn »

I'm not sure if it is OK to post the text of the article, so here is the link:

Funny, actually not funny - politicians were looking for short term fixes. Doesn't anyone think about the long term anymore?

The real issue here is: How much water can be responsibly pumped out of the Delta?

The government has not handled water planning in a responsible manner in the past (Colorado River doesn't reach the sea) (Walker Lake).

Problem is that it's not the people who use the delta voting on this issue, it's the people in Southern California who USE the delta water who have the votes for it. Unfortunately that has been the fact for a long time.

Unfortunately "science' can be twisted to any conclusion the checkbook feels appropriate. Tear down the houses and the levees if you want it back.

Actually, science came back with an answer that was not what the Senator wanted to hear.

Read the story again. Especially the last paragraph. They are looking for ways to twist the report to fit their desires. The big question should be how did somebody get $750,000 to produce a 60 page report in a measly two months and how can I get that job?

It sure is a coincidence that an Alameda County judge ruled that California water managers violated state environmental laws when they set up a water bank to store up supplies during last year's drought. This is one of the many solutions to our Delta problem that is good for both sides.

Then you have the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar (Obama appointee) announced a sharp increase in federal water supplies for California's agricultural Central Valley.

Now you have a Federal Science Panel saying Delta pumping restrictions are justify – who is getting paid off here? Could it be McNearny, Cardoza, and Costa for votes on Obamacare?

Is there a organization in the bay area that is focused is fighting to keep more water in the delta and improving the ecosystem and is supportive of all types of fishing?
