Go for the 704CB or 706CB, I think they could give you more uses. The 704CB is a great spinnerbait, crankbait and light topwater rod. If your throwing around grass or fishing a super spook, go with the 706CB.

Look at the 734C. Its has a fast action instead of x-fast. It is 7'3" but don't let that bother you. Its an awesome rod. Also perfect for just about all topwaters, senkos and many other applications. It is our most versitile rod in the line and our #2 seller behind the 704CB Rippin rod. Thanks for your interest.

If you ask me... 7' 3'' rods are great. I love the extra length. I believe bigger is better.

Which 5 and Why?

Post by JamesH »

If I was buying 5 Powell rods which ones would they be and why? I would need to throw Huddlestons, blades, deep cranks, rip baits, senkos, jigs & topwater.

Thanks for your input! Merry Christmas!

I'd get 2- 734c, 704CB, 706CB and I'd wait for the new Mike Long swimbait rod. That's if you only wanted 5!

I totally agree with Dave. 2- 734C Fast Action: Blades, senkos, and most topwaters. 1- 704cb Mod-Fast: jerkbaits and many cranks also smaller topwaters. 1- 706cb Mod-Fast : big cranks and big jerkbaits. 1- 704c extra fast : jig rod. We do not make a swimbait rod yet. I would wait for Mike Long to make them. The swimbait rods will not be available for 4 or 5 months. Sorry, I sure wish we had them.
