LSS-1 Structure Scan Transducer mounting location on Basscat

Post by AaronAgner »

I was looking for some advice on where to mount this thing. On the step or on the Jackplate (6" Hydro)? My concern with the jackplate is that it would be very close to the engine when trimmed all the way down. It probably wont hit, but it might be close enough to interfere with the scanning beams. Thanks in advance for your help!

Bryan, I called him earlier today. Right now my concern isnt really the bracket, but more so the location. The step, JP, or somewhere else? If the JP is the way to go, i will probably save myself $150 and make my own bracket...

Aaron,

I directed mounted my LSS-1 transducer on the step of a 519VX Ranger. No issues (knock on wood) with the location/operation of S.C.
If you need pictures send me a PM and I'll forward those images to you.
Another option would be to use the bracket that came with your S.C, but personally I didn't like the idea of hanging the transducer on the rear. The direct step mount in my opinion is the best location to protect the sensor, and cleanest installation.

If you can make your own bracket, that's cool. While I'm sure the step mounting is good, I'm just not willing to drill holes in the hull, especially if there's another option.

Hey send me a pm with your number and i'd be glad to help you with that question. I've been with Basscat for 12 years and have had hummingbirds with side imaging since they have been out. My name is Chad Martin, shoot me a message and we'll get you handled.

Transducer Shield and Saver on your jackplate is the way to go:

Chad, Sent you a PM

Marc, That does look really nice. I just dont know if it would work with my hydro jackplate since its much more narrow, moves up and down, and is pretty close to my engine.

Mine allows my jackplate to move up and down. Scap (at Transducer Shield and Saver) custom makes these brackets to fit your boat/jackplate. He can make one for your jackplate. He also calculates the perfect angle so you get the transducer mounted to shoot down perfectly straight with your exact boat model when floating in the water. The guy is quite the craftsman!
