What line to use at Clear Lake...?

Post by set'em good »

I usually use 30lb-65lb Suffix Performance Braid for my Swimbaits in the bay area Lake's and it works great. I will be going to Clear lake for the 9-11th and was questioning the line I should use.. Floro, mono or stick with the braid.. What do the big boys use? The fish have probably been seeing allot of swimbaits lately and want my best chances for them to commit to the bait and have the power to land them..

From what I read, most of the Elites were using 20 ~ 25# fluoro. (Berkley 100% Fluoro)

I like floro myself, but I will also use heavy mono at times. Braid works great but with the zero strech it can create problems if you have a proffesional over run, I have snapped of a few baits from this and they fly for miles, same could happen with your swimbaits.

3 days of looking...... never saw any braid on any elite reels! but if you are useing a swimbait.....braid is my 3rd choice anyway.... fluor 1st them mono 2nd
no need for braid with the water soooooo clear

Marshalled up the for BASS and didn't see any braid. I'd drop shot with 15lb test or less, and swimbait with over 15 lb, both flouracarbon. Water is very clear. Pro's drop shot with 8lb flouracarbon.

The only advantage of having braid is when you get bit WAAAY out there, you can get some hook penetration ...
