Re: Smiley were you able to talk your way onto DVL today?
I too got turned away.I have a very good system of cleaning and drying.Dont worry Guy ,you too will be turned away soon.Until they have a protocall you can follow this will continue to get worse.Zero MOISTURE is unattainable in a boat that is used once a week.Every week that goes by its getting harder to get on that lake.
Hey Guy how about an experiment.Pull your tag off and see if you can pass the CSI Investigation.See you at Hodges after you get turned away.
P.S.- If our doctor looked up our *ss as hard and thorough as these lake personel are doing right now, EVERYONE would have Colon Cancer.!!!!!!!!!

My personal answer to all this drama is to move out of California as soon as I possibly can do so. I've got teens in high school now so as soon as they're out and on their own I'm leaving this nightmare of a state behind. I love fishing here but I don't think you're going to able to fish here much longer, for any species.

Re: Smiley were you able to talk your way onto DVL today?
You all must be trained to be inspectors. That's the only way you could possibly tell someone how they need to do their jobs. Be glad you all don't do that crap at my job!! Maybe you should ask the MWDP to do the inspections and see what happens. Bottom line is if you don't agree with what's going on at DVL then don't go there. Don't worry, DVL will be closed by June if no water is put in the lake. BTW, I passed inspection to get my tag that's on the boat now. I even had a cluster of mussels hanging off my skid plate.1biggbass wrote:I too got turned away.I have a very good system of cleaning and drying.Dont worry Guy ,you too will be turned away soon.Until they have a protocall you can follow this will continue to get worse.Zero MOISTURE is unattainable in a boat that is used once a week.Every week that goes by its getting harder to get on that lake.

Re:
Wow have I been through this rodeo before. I remember it well with a certain Ranger at Casitas for a W.O.N. team event and then again for the H.B.C. I also had to cancel a tournament because of the rain that was going to happen and the way inspections were being done on boats by that Certain Ranger Aaron Wall.
Hey if you do not pass you do not pass but my gosh go by the rules and try again. At least it is not a 21 or 28 day quarentine. A certain lake had that for a time but then they became semi private Because of the stupidity of the water board. Also try not to go to an infected lake and then go back to DVL. Do not fish a tournament in San Diego and then go to D.V.L. the next weekend. If you do and get caught you will not help the problem you will just make it worse. I have heard of some teams not telling the truth on there form. They said they did not fish an infested lake when the truth is they fished a tournament the weekend before on an infested lake and went to dvl. Not a good thing. Glad I am not a tournament director out that direction. If I found out about that I would ban those teams for good from my region. I would also make sure other organizations new about it and try and have them banned as well. I had a tough time with the garbage at Casitas and sure hope we do not have the same thing happen at D.V.L.
I may not fish the lake but I know a lot that do and love fishing it, so for there sake If this starts going the direction of Casitas I will again stand up and fight this just Like I did at Casitas.
Again just go by the rules. Clean and Dry is what it says and what it means.

On a side note. I dont know for sure, but didnt DVL get filled with Colorado river water? The lakes been open what 8 or 9 years ? I wonder if they tested for the mussel when the lake was filled? Does anyone know how long the Colorado river water has been infected?
Answers to these questions would sure clear the air a bit.

I did not hear it at Fred Hall. Lake staff told me it would be purchased in April. Yes the lake has been tested and you would see them on the bank now with the lake so low. Brian that text you sent was gross. Tell Kev to wipe next time at least.

like I said. Hopefully its true. Hopefully water starts flowing in the lake in April. Another summer without DVL night derbies would be seriously lame. The night derbies out there are the shat. I WANT THE LAKE TO BE OPEN. If they dont figure a way out to treat the water by June it looks like we wont have those this summer and that is going to be lame. Something better happen quick out there, its only going to get hotter from hear on out and that ramps going to get closer and closer.
Ray L. - was the water source the Colorado river? How long has their been confirmed quaggas in the Colorado river?
I have read up on the quagga, probably not to the extent as all of you, it was originally found in Lake Erie in 1989. 21 years ago. They had confirmed the quagga made its way to Havasu in 2007. I doubt they just showed up in 2007. They had to be in the water supply for a while in order to be noticable. It was discovered in a marina by observers curious what the mussel was. Look at the size of all the red ears coming out of Havasu. They are massive. red ears are mollusc eating fish. They are gourging at Havasu. They have been big as long as I can remember. I think its safe to say they were in Havasu long before 2007. So if DVL was filled with Colorado river water how did they avoid it? Ive always wondered this. Ive always heard DVL was filled with Colorado river water. Im just trying to find out if that was true.
Whats wrong with asking questions?

inspections
The inspection methods and criteria are inconsistent. DVL should create a video of what they are looking for and in what areas of the bote. Some guys get the bend-over inspection with a white glove while others are barely scrutinized. Granted, it is difficult at best to inspect a bote at 4am with a flashlight. What truly is moisture from a lake as opposed to dampness and road grime from trailering all across SoCalif from 15-200 miles?

Re: inspections
If you want to fish DVL you have to follow their rules. No way around it. No need to say what they need or should do. Its as simple as that. This is the procedure they do. Meet the criteria or be booted.
I found out that it was originally filled with Colorado river water.
water starting coming in in November of 99 and finished filling in early 2002. So between 99 and 02 there was no quaggas/zebras in the Colorado river? ...Laughable...

Re: inspections
and Ray.. just because water is purchased doesnt mean that water will be coming in. You know that. Water has been purchased for a long time to fill DVL and yet we are in the mess we are in.
DVL being open is a major selling point for many companies in so cal. There was a lot of talk at Fred Hall about the water supply, its just ironic that was going around the same weekend everyone was trying to sell product.
People are not going to be loading up on tackle and boats if the pond is going to be shut down again. DVL is a money maker.

Re:
So just to make sure I understood this video correctly. Lake Mathews is storage facility for Colorado river water. One of DVL sources. If the water has been purchased, and I have heard it has been purchased for quite some time. Why is Lake Mathews at near full pool? It said in the video that when DVL is 90 ft below full pool that was when they would hit the emergency low water supply. Well since one of the reasons DVL was created was to expand our water storage and supply an emergency water source. I believe I heard a 6 month supply. Are we finally into the 90ft below full pool mark? Looking up the bank it would seem we are def in that mark, but i dont have the numbers to back it up. If that was the one of the reason DVL was built, wouldnt MWD face some sort of breach of contract for not being able to supply the promised amount of emergency water?
They have plenty of water in Mathews to avoid that. I drive by it all the time. Its very full. Why not transfer the water into DVL that has already been purchased?
just curious?

John your right I heard they aren't putting any water in but what do I know its all hear say. all we can do is wait and see I doubt they pump that quagga infested mathews water in dv. Its truely amazing how every lake around dv has quagga except perris silverwood and hodges. mathews and skineer have them and there on the same aquaducts so who cares.
Ill tell you what if Dv night seies is closed its going to make for some big py days at friends of Castaic cause NBW is running that this year

Re:
Dont get me started on Hodges. They just finished a canal that connect hodges to lake Olivenheim (sp?). The project is extremely close to complete if not complete. Olivenheim has had the quagga for years yet they are connecting it to a non quagga lake. For as much stink they are making about the quagga, they just spent a ton of money connecting the two. The second they turn those pumps on you can add Hodges to the list.

I sleep like a baby knowing I am not letting one of these lakes
have a cent of my hard earned money. If this is a crisis they
can find someone else to fund it. In my mind this entire thing
is a natural occurrence and we should be working on how to
deal with it rather then try to hide from it.
The Delta is just to close for me to care about any of this. Tell
the lakes that inspect to "Suck it" and head somewhere else.
Fishermen not showing up, now that would be a real crisis

Wake up at 1 AM We went to DVL and it was first thing in the morning got there at 4 am one of the first in line day of a trout plant to whack some swimbait fish, and we drove 110 miles to get there and 110 miles back and 4 hours of traffic on the way home.
Jump on a friends boat, that has not been taken out over 9 months and the boat is a 2009 been garaged and Its brand new only tooken out a few when he picked it up.
Mr flashlight comes and digs deep in the prop to find some DVL MOISTURE and we get turned away!! We are well aware of the clean & dry we have been fishing casitas since the inspections started and got a few tips from rangers on how to stay clean & dry. And never had this problem ever. We checked the boat 100x and the boat was dryer then a mouthful of peanut butter with no milk!
Its getting to crazy and thats why we are staying on casitas & castaic and Im glad because I just stuck a 10lb 14ozer at Casitas! So take that DVL lol
I love DVL its a great fishery but Its not the only place that has bass!!! They better start getting wiser on these inspections and check for quaggas where they'd live instead of drops of water or mist because its morning. thats getting crazy and soon enough im sure lots of other fisherman will get ticked and leave all these socal lakes then nobody will fish here. oh well...

Re: Smiley were you able to talk your way onto DVL today?
think alot of this has to do with trny boats lieing about were they were and when
I know its got bad but Aaron went down on sat in his 195 pt tracker, went though the line paid his money did go though a inspt that his says was alot more then I'm used to
but passed in mins and his boat was only off the water for 2 weeks
he is like me on the way he takes care of his boat so its allways clean and dry
so I guess its just be clean and dry
or just go other places
