Those lakes you listed are all really tough right now. You need to drive the 90 miles and go to Tenmile lake. The water temp will be about the same but the fishing has been good. There was a tourney last week and it took 43lbs for two days to win.

Cottage Grove and Dorena are good right now. Jigs and cranks on the rocky banks. Some of my buddies are doing well there.

Tenmile is great this time of year too...

Don't overlook the sloughs, fished around the Corvallis area alot in the mid to late 70's, lots of jig, crank fish this time of the year in the backwaters.

What Doug said   There are fish biting at CG, but it's small, and with the cold front in the valley, it's going to be tough. Go to the coast, you'll be glad of it. There's snow on the ground at Galesville.....

I'm moving up to Florence today. I love the coastal lakes! Tahkenitch, Tenmile, Umpqua, and even Woahinck and....MUNSEL!!! If you're ever up that way, give me a holla.

My friend Rick won the Cabin Fever Classsic on Sat (again) with 22.5lbs of smallies.

They were on the Columbia near Portland however (Cascade Locks).

He was at CG & Dorena a few days ago and I guess they had 18lbs on jigs and cranks (combined, fished both lakes in the same day); but I'd follow Phil's advice if there's a front moving through...

Depending on the lake at 50-52 degrees there should be some shallow fish(8 feet or less). The coastal lake do stay warmer than the ones in the valleys! I would go with what Doug and Phil told you for sure, it's been very cold and wet for this time of year. The lower Willamette will be way out of shape. You can always catch a few fish a Cottage Grove reguardless of the conditions, but my guess it's a tough bite with the weather pattern we have had. ODFW has been planting trout in both Cottage Grove and Dorena and both were quite good before the weather change. Two weeks ago I had over 30 pound for the best 5 fish at Dorena on swimbaits, vibrating jigs and carolina rigs. If we get a warming trend and they stock again that bite should come back, not sure that will happen before you return home though. Your best bet would be Tenmile towards the backs of the arms in 10 feet or less. Jigs, Traps and jerkbaits work well. Good luck and enjoy your fishing here.
