Sac river launching

Post by Cesar L »

I got talked into taking my girlfriends brother sturgeon fishing...He wants to fish the sac river. Can anybody tell me what ramps I could use and that are open 24hrs. I was thinking there was a ramp of Riego rd. in sacramento going towards the airport. Any help would be appreciated

I think Knight's Landing out of Woodland is open 24/7.

Riego all the way to the river, turn right and Verona is 3 miles on the left...

Watch it up there Caesar, those wingdams are hidden under the increased flow of the Sacto and Feather....lower unit killer

Take riego out to the end. Go right a couple miles and Verona is on your left.

2 best spots I used to anchor and fish are right there in line with the end of the house boats. Right at the end or 200 yards above, right on a sand bar. Feather river is right there, be careful bottom comes up fast there. Lots of debris (big logs) that will go right over you if your on anchor coming down so stay clear of the path there on.

When you tired of that, every wing dam, cut, and swirl has a smallmouth on it waiting for a red wiggle wart. You want largemouth, there is a slough on your right on the sac just past were the feather hits. They eat wiggle warts to, so do the cat fish and striper.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Went out sat night with ghost shrimp and eel. Got the big skunk. I think thats why I love bass fishing so much....no stinky baits to get my boat dirty. Ill be back at it again, I really want to catch a sturgeon.
