Boycott Diamond Valley

Post by bassinsd »

They have gone overboard on the checking of boats. I'm from SD and drive an hour and half to fish the lake. I was careful to drain and wipe down the livewells and motor and bilge as best I could. When I get there they are checking my boat and find a little moisture on my Trailer and tell me they can't let me in the lake??? They also stated since we can't see in your bilge area then you are denied access also for that reason. I have a 21 foot triton 2005 with four batteries it is hard to access the bilge but that is how the boat is designed. I told them I'm never going to this lake again. If it is raining then I don't see how anybody will get to fish this lake. I told him the last time I fished was three weeks ago at Lake Hodges which has no muscles, he said it doesnt matter if we find any water you can't come on the lake for seven days.

Diamond valley will be shut down soon due to this crazy policy, they lost a lot of good revenue from me and all my friends!

When the lake is pumping out 25 lb limts, nobody will boycott my friend. Sorry for your experience though. It sucks, but the lake staff are just doing what they're told.

Sucks for sure but rules are rules. Next time, go over your boat THOUROUGHLY just before entering the lake and you will get in.

We were turned away on Saturday trying to get in for a tournament. It does suck driving from San Clemente only to get denied. If you are dry, then your good to go. It could be worse. Look at what the Casitas crew has to deal with Quarantine would be much worse!

That sucks to hear. I know for me it's nearly impossibe to have my boat completely dry if it's been in the water one, two or even three days before, especially when it's cool outside. There will always be a few drops that will leak out of somewhere especially in the livewell.

You should always have fishing Skinner on your mind if you're not tagged.

cant wait till all the lakes have been infected, that way we dont have to deal with all this crap anymore. Also I'm sure if they start closeing to many lakes or lakes like Clear Lake, and Shasta, that someone will just put them in there so they have no reason to close them.

They dont effect the fish

Problem is I did stop at the bottom of the hill to check my boat, I can't access all the bilge so some of the water must have hit my trailer on the way up the hill. The problem is I haven't been in the water for three weeks and those damn muscles can't live that long. This policy is totally unreasonble.

If they say the bilge has to be "OPEN" then 75% of the Bass boats made will be turned away....

I have the same boat and they have never said that. They just look in the plug hole and check wells..

Your inspector was in a bad mood...

The inspection process is definitely inconsistent.

it does suck...i am at the wonderful Casitas...what a hassle it is up this way for people. but even like DVL...anything...moisture or drop of water from ANYWHERE and you are turned away. All i can say is that you MUST shove towels in every nook and cranny until you get to the lake...pull them out at the base of the hill and make sure you blow ALL the water out with a vaccuum. Inconsistentency is always going to be an issue unfortunately...well at least until they get at least 6 months of inspections under way.

It doesnt matter how thoroughly you dry or how many towels you shove everywhere, the fact is you are still going to have water in your engine,or perhaps in your bilge/livewell lines.
I was turned away on sat because i had water leak out of my exhaust. This was after tilting the motor down for 2 days, shop vacing the prop and exhaust, tilting motor up and down twice the night before, and once more at gas station on the way to the lake,no water came out.Get in line, open livewells and drop motor waiting for inspection,bs for 15 minutes still no water. As inspector came up water started dripping out of lower unit.
I used to laugh at everybody being turned around, thought it was a 15 minute process to be dry but i was obviously wrong.Just another thing you guys need to look out for.Can the guaggas even live in you engine exhaust with the temps?

The way the water situation looks to be unfolding, you guys should be more concerned with the inspection process at Lake Perris or where ever else you plan to fish next.

You still got that leopard skin rap on your worm rod to throw that 3 inch pink worm! Sweet bro! C ya on the water soon.

Not sure if this is correct, but I was told my a local Merc Certified engine mechanic that all engines retain water inside them after being ran in the water... (lol)

The visual inspection methods are inconsistent and there is no standard way to inspect boats out there.

As the owner David once told me..."its a judgment call on behalf of the inspector".

You just have to go to extremes to clean/dry out your boat and cross your fingers and hope you don't get someone on a bad day.

I have a Triton too...it was a 2 hr job for me to clean out my bilge but I'm back on now. I got a "normal" inspector however too...he just looked at all the normal stuff then passed me.

He didn't jump on my back deck, do the flash light down the prop deal, or any of the other stuff that has occurred in the past to me when I got kicked off.

Too much of a hassle to drive an hour and half to be uncertain if you will be turned away. They need to change this policy or have other inspection stations in SD or closer to my house to get certified that I have no Muscles on my Boat.

The inconsistent part will keep me away from this lake going forward. Good luck on the diamond valley people keeping their jobs in this economy, no entry fees equals no paycheck in the long run.

Another note, if you get to the lake and have some water why can't you just pour some Bleach in the area let it sit for a while, it should kill all those suckers and they should let you on the lake. Just one suggestion they should take up.

Hey BassinSD, I took it upon myself to inspect the water that dripped from your engine under a high power microscope. I'd have to say that the inspectors did there job on this one. There were definitely Muscles in that water.

Take a fan, any fan plug it in and point it in the bilge area leave it running for a couple hours. This is my new technique and it's been working great, not a drop of moisture.

use an air compressor and shoot air in the water ports of your motor while raising and lowering it a few times.

I'll just add my 15 cents. The things going on here in this state disturbing our fishing in the lakes created by the state for drinking water or municipal services is beyond our control even at an organized level because our purposes are secondary from the states point of view. Basically we as a group are just a reachable annoying reoccurring pimple on the back of there necks. They just keep popping it. We are all just infected with the Bass Fever (no cure)! But more disturbing are the pictures posted in this thread. I've got plenty of spare down time to surf the net and well I'm just plain freakin overwhelmed looking at distorted female anatomy while reading the fishing message board. I'd like to see pictures of attractive females displaying big fish they caught . I don't have the appropriate vocabulary to describe the pictoral content of this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those are the world's largest biceps, but I'm sticking by my claim... that's a bald bruddah, your pick which one, hahah.

Actually... It's Greg Valentino, owner of the world's largest biceps at 28" inches and still growing. Needless to say you can also contact Greg for any of an assortment of steroids or HGH and so forth.
