Delta stripers?

Post by norththird »

Anyone know if there are any schools of stripers in the delta right now?
Any reports or suggestions would be appreciated. I will be fishing this week and might want to chase some stripers for a change-up from the
LM. I do practice catch and release.
Thanks for any replys,
Darren

It has been very hit and miss for meyself. I have been burning alot of petrol and keeping it under wraps on my end. Running from Oakley all the way up and past the Sac Deep Water Channel- Sac River and arms, SJ River on the the Northern Shoals, back out West in the brackish water.

I can not put a tide patern and a moon spot togther as of yet for these Spring Hen's. But I can say that the Fly Fishers are having ALOT of success ! Up to #54 that I witnessed landed and released on a 25+ minuet fight. -- But I am learning ALOT and having quite the fun at the same time !!

I am fishig with with different top-water bait's now than the normal fall patern, (Perch/Blugill colored Jitterbugs) Same SBait's, Rattle/Reaction baits, Under-spin Horsehairs in 3 different colors .... and even big jigs. (Along with the deep diving neon pink WiggleWart normally used for Salmon fishing.)

Spring has been a totally different game for myself this year than the fall season by a BIG Diffenence. Biggest linesider so far for me has been +20. on a Go-To-Minnow working it under the waterline.

Word of Caution - There is so much freaking wood "semi-floating" in the SacRiver main channel from Horseshoe Bend/Decker - All the way up to and past Bouy 54 and Isleton on the other legg that is is not fun at all to run up/down while on pad with 2-3 sets of eys peeled open for the lookout going as slow as you can while on pad.

It DOES MAKE FOR A VERY INTERESTING DAY !

The Linesiders are there - and they are very far up the different rivers now. One is the Moke that has been putting out the most constant. I can't catch them there now for some reason that I can not figure out as well ..... But I will try to catch them on the way back down - as well as the othersstaging/ just heading up for the first time the next time I can fish for them.

Have Funand Be Safe !
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.
