FORD 6.4 DIESEL

Post by GEORGEN »

Make sure you guys are servicing the oil every 5k and the fuel every 10-12k, ford is getting strict on approving repairs and are
asking for service records on major repairs.....TRUST ME!!! I work
for a dealership (fleet service) and FORD is declining repairs daily without service records.........JUST A HEADS UP!!!!

If you guys have any ?'s or need anything just pm me...

Thats because the 6.4's turned out to be lemons. Ford is trying anything they can to get out of warranty work.

It not ford so much as it is Navistar not backing up Ford. Ford is in bad situation with their diesels. In time I know they will fix it. However that does not help much now. I have leaned towards Fords for many years, now I have to lean in other directions.

Just watched the video on the ford. Now if they did the gas mileage video with the new duramax for 2011 its suppose to have more horses and lighter with better gas mileage

I bought my F-250 Super Duty with the proven and tested 7.4 Diesel off the lot brand new back in 2001. I haven't had any problems with it. To this day it has the same power as the first day I drove it.

Still amazed people bought Fords when Cummins were available.
Powerchokes lol
Fords are nicer trucks, but a Cummins is indestructable. I have 208,000 miles and she still runs like a swiss watch...well a switch watchc that runs on diesel anyways.
~20 mpg 14.5 loaded with camper and boat.
Stupid HP and torque...

When I bought my Powerstroke, I REALLY, really wanted to buy a Cummin's. I test drove that thing four or five times. At the end, I could not live with the noise. The Ford PSD while on the road and warmed up, sounds just a little noisier than the gassers. But the Cummin's ... teeth chattering dieseling!

I bought my '99 PSD w/ 7.4L and now have close to 240,000 miles on it. Only thing I've changed besides tires and little stuff is an alternator and water-pump. Pulls GREAT ... I get ~15MPH while towing my boat (20'8" Stratos) and it doesn't even know it's back there.

AMEN !

The 600 Series Cummings is the Snitz !! I am now getting with 65k on the motor up to26 hwy @ 57 mph ... and 18-19 with the wife running the boys around town to school, practices and studies. (6-spd Manualy Tranny Dodge 2500, 4x4 Quad Cab/ Longbed - with a camper shell) ..... And am getting 16 to 17 mpg towing the boat on the I-5/99 @ 75- 82 mph.

It took me along time to search for this truck new on the ground ... with everything I wanted on it and package west of the Missssippi River .And I got it below price from the fleet manager after he worked out a trade for cash money.

I had a breakdown @ Castaic last year for a fuel pump failure.... But it was changed out under warrenty with a minamal cost for a new filter and a deductable to go along with it as I only had the stock had the 3 year 36k mile warrenty for full sevice. And the free 100k miles on the powertrain warrenty covered the rest.

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Have you guys had to SMOG your diesles yet. I just had to smog mine, 2002 E450 van. $90 what a joke. They just did a visual and steped on the gas to see if it was smoking to much. You can not have any after market stuff, Like chips, exhaust ect. I was told 98 and newer has to be smoged.

I have to say that the 5.9 cummins is a great motor, I own a 06 dodge with the 5.9 and a 01 ford with the 7.3, love them both but I have to say that the shell of the DODGE will not last like these
FORDS, especially if your using them in extreme conditions.

I wanted to buy American when I bought my van but Ford had so many problems with their diesel van they stopped installing them in vans. I got the Dodge Sprinter with is actually a Mercedes.
