Dobyns Savvy Rods

Post by elfish16 »

I am interested in purchasing a new rod and was curious how these rods are? Any input???

Are they lightweight...any comparisons to other rods out there would be awesome!

Looking at the 704 size rod too.

I have a 733 Savvy and I love it. Very light for that price range. The graphite is real good and very sensitive.

I'm not sure what else to say w/o sound saley...if you pick one up in the store and compare to rods that are $40-$50 more you'll see its light and sensitive bud.

I made 4 changes with better materials until I could get the rods to "feel" right. I did not start with cheap crap either. I made the Savvy's so I would personally fish them. Please go to your local dealer and feel them and compare for yourself. Also me and Richard are at the shop daily and will always be happy to talk rods with you. 530-671-1989

I have personally bought several of these and I got to say I love them. I also have several of the Champion and Extreme and these fit in nicely with that combo.

On tournament day I know I can count on any one of these rods to perform. Now if I could only get the same performance out of myself.

I am on the pro staff for Gary's Rods. I can look you or anyone in the eyes and tell them they have a good rod in their hands. I have many Savvy rods...I have great confidence in their performance. They are built well and the company stands behind them.

I have two, a 733c and a 734c and I think Gary sorta messed up. After fishing Extreme's, Champion's and now the Savvy's I think most guys might just find that you don't need to spend more money than the price of the Savvy's. They have to be the very best rod for the money. Light, sensitive and good looking and I'm not talking about girls.

Gary,
Which of your rods do you recommend for small rip baits, like the small Pointers, or the Orbit 80, which weighs 5/16 oz.?

I'm no GB but i would figure 684CB would be a ideal choice.

Do this series of rod carry the same replacement deals as the more expensive ones? You know, the $60 over the counter exchange...

Louie,
I'm thinking I would need a 3 power rod for those super light jerk baits.
Do you know if Gary makes one?

I just got my first Dobyns Rod, it is an DX 701SF.

The attention to detail is amazing, I can't wait to get on the water.

Gonna drop shot some Columbia River smallmouth with this bad boy.

Thank you Gary!

Those rods are casting, the SS stands Savvy Series. I apologize for the confusion.

Personally I would go with the Champion Series CB rods for that application.

cork-full 704CB GLASS 7' 1pc. 8-17lb, 1/4-3/4oz, Medium Fast Action Crankbaits, Jerkbaits, Spinnerbaits, Topwaters $199.99

cork-full 704CB 7' 1pc. 8-14lb, 1/4-3/4oz, Medium Mod/Fast Action Crankbaits, Jerkbaits, Poppers, Sammys, Gunfish, Staycee 90 $229.99

If you like a little faster action I would get the 704 CB.
