HDS Screenshot Images?

Post by Rod Wynn »

Does anyone have any good ones to share?

I will post mine when I get back to my other computer where they are saved..

Having said that here are a few that I found to be pretty tight/interesting..

Image
Ok, a little guessing game. What do you see in this screen shot? Also off to which side of the boat are we looking?

Image

This tree is in 57 feet of water and although they may be difficult to see in this screenshot there are fish suspended below the lowest limb of the tree on the left side.

Rod from what I have seen you CANNOT see OUR fish in our lakes on Structure Scan. Now thats not to say you can't see some huge exotic fish with this unit but the fish I am after very seldom show up on my graph if at all....(compared to the depth chart on the side some of those fish are 3 feet long)

Also the tree, to get a shot of a tree like that, you have to be directly over the tree to get that good of a shot....

The fish on the Tree shot is about the average view you will get of a fish on this structure scan from what I have seen.

The word interpret is gone from the HDS units, you don't need to interpret anything. A tree is a tree and a rock is a rock and for you Havasu guys a habitat is a habitat..... I love my units......

"These are screen shots of some brush and a big oak tree in deep water at San Antonio Lake in central California."

Nothing too "huge" nor "exotic" there..

I really don't believe in these sidescans I believe they have a computer in them and when it sees something it just gives you a picture of what it thinks it is ? Not what it really is .How many times have you metered fish , a bunch of fish, that show up on your graph then put a aqua view down and it not be fish at all . just my 2 cents, gimmic or not ?

Wow!
Are you serious?
What about when you see that pic of the bus, then they metered the bus.. Did the "computer" make that up?

Yes they did. They floated it out and sunk it. Notice the two boxes on top of the bus, you can also see them on the structure scan image. Its new technology and you will have to gain your own confidence in it, just like the Bio Sonix...Now there's technology

Screw selling this guy on it.. take his money for a few years until he is forced to get the units or get sick of donating.. these new units are the future.. face the facts.

LOL @ Lacy and not being a believer.. TEHO

Hey John, you should go ahead and throw in a Blank SD card in your second slot on your unit so you can "Screen Capture" the images directly within the unit itself.. All you need is like a 2GB SD and you will be all set..

Nice images though..

Damn ,I wish I had more time to debate this , you guys sound to me like snake oil salesman.. I am on my way to Lake Mead to fish in the FLW but I probably won't do very well cause I don't have the side scan But who cares , I am going to give it my best with my ancient tecno HDS 7 's

I may be wrong but I don't think Mitch has the structure scan on his boat andd he kicked our butt at the last DV tourny. I know Guy doesn't have it and were leading the points race at DV for NBW. Not sure if Phua has put them graphs on his boat yet but I don't think he has an hes killing everyone.
The graphs help but you have to be able to catch them too. I bet most of the teams in the top ten don't have structure scan.

I not sure how this turned into a "who catches more" debate but I never assumed nor mean't it to go that route when I started this thread..
Just trying to see who else is "nerdy" enough to take the time to capture some images..

BTW..The bottom line is that you do have to catch some fish but it sure is fun to have some toys to play with when you are not catchin' em..LOL

It seems, on this forum, every time someone states something and someone dismisses it or has something negative to state about it they ALWAYS stray off of it to make themselves feel better. The piece of equipment works for what it is. It WILL help you define structure or whatever. I have been fishing without it and a power pole and a Bio Sonix for years, yet now that I have them they all help make fishing more of an adventure than just going out there and chunking baits. HDS 7, what did buy those for? Go back to flashers....Not bagging on you, just trying to make a point. Good fishing at Mead. Gorgeous day today. Watching the bass boats going down and up the hill out of Boulder City.

You guys can go to Lowrance's page on Facebook and see these screenshots and more. We just launched the page last week. Become a fan and see what's going on, ask questions and post some of your own stuff.

Yesterday, motoring around between Lakeport and Rodman's, I found a huge underwater rock. I didn't stop to fish it, just marked it with a waypoint. There was no bouy close to it and it was in 16' of water. You guys are correct, side scanning didn't help me catch any fish but I found a piece of structure that I bet even guides on the lake don't know about. You can bet, I'll be throwing a jig around that rock come tournament time. It might pan out, it might not but if I get enough of those waypoints eventually some of them will produce. I think it's another tool. If you don't want it don't buy it but to say it's useless I think is a little extreme!
