shimano cumulus line rating question?

Post by dmharrison81 »

hey
i was at a local tackle shop and was able to check out the new cumulus rods. lightest rods i've ever held. i hope to have one in a few months once things cool down with the new baby. anyways, i noticed on the 7'1" casting model that it's rated for 15 lb line. i usually fish 10-12 lb line and was wondering if this rod would work fine with this lighter lb line. i know that the 6'10" casting model is rated for 12 lb line but i really like the extra length of the 7'1". any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

This is the ideal line rating that we listed for the rod. Of course you can move up our down from that rating and be ok.

I have been fishin my whole 24 years of life on this planet. never paid that much. but on the other hand, I have never tournament fished either. I am sure its a really sweet rod. but some of the biggest fish i caught were on really good bait on technique. but who knows maybe I will start tourny soon (like i plan) and be willing to pay that price. you never know! not to say I wouldnt mind owning a cumulus rod:P
