Try cottonwood, there seem to be some sizable Largemouth there. Normally I wouldn't toss giant plastics at Mcclure, but you might give a large black worm a shot slathered in scent. Otherwise, maybe try vibration lures like lipless cranks, paddletails, or maybe small buzzbaits.

I would also slow roll a black colorado blade spinnerbait. ie., Strikeking 38 special. Also, put a black grub on for a trailer. A black power worm worked along the rocky banks by the dam have been very effective for me.

10" Power Worm/Junebug.
Any Dark Jig and PIG with rattle...yes a pig
Tandem Blade Spinnerbait...(the single colorado is too much alot of times)
Dark Buzzbait, with Quad Blades. the more you have the slower the retrieve.

I like Andy's suggestions, Ive never even seen a dark ripbait before...I have no idea if it would work....dark jigs , dark spinnerbaits, dark worms.....but I'm not an expert. Larry Hemphill has a series of articles on it in the Bass Anglers Guide...check that out.

I know this is late as I just got back from Mc Clure, I typically use a jig, or a hula grub. Throw it right up on the bank, the spots will crush your jig in less than a foot of water. Work it back out to 15' or so. Alos later on any buzz bait or wake bait will do well up to dark, I haven't had alot of success after dark with them, but I always switch to a black/blue spinner bait after dark. Remember it is 5mph after sunset. Keep your anchor light on or the big bad sherriff will visit you.

You can use pretty much the same stuff you use during the day. Jigs, shaky head with at least a 6" worm or bigger, topwater, buzzbaits work well too. If you have any type of chop on the water throw a wakebait. If its hot during the day, then fish shallow at night, they will move to feed.

Thanks to all of you guys that gave me some pointers. We did alright night fishing,I caught 11 total 2 over 5 pounds and my friend caught 8. I did lose one that broke off my line with a Lucky Craft Pointer in its mouth,so if any of you catch that guy I would really like that lure back, lol. Thanks again.

Sometimes early in late-spring - early-summer it is a good idea to bite off 2 inches of a 10 inch Power worm. You still have the "bulk" you need for night fishing but the slightly smaller worm will "match the hatch" a little better. As the summer wears on and into fall - go with the full size 10" worm!

The biting off 2 inches of the power worms worked a couple times for me, but my boys refused to bite them off after that.

I'm not trying to be a smart guy,but whats the difference if I was to use a 7" power worm, does that extra inch make a difference in presentation. I'm still learning and I'm curious thats all.
