There's no scaling back, there can be a rally this year. I just can't run it myself. If y'all wanna come fish Clear Lake we can try to plan something. I'm sure others would like to fish also. There's no way I can commit to running it as my plate is already full.

Guy - what most people do not realize is the work involved in putting on a Rally. It starts right after the last one ends, looking for sponsor products, setting up a venue, food, etc. When I got involved in 2000, it was a group effort. We had a committee and the work was spread over several people so that it could all get done. The last two years, I did it myself (with a small amount of outside assistance) so that Tony could be relieved of the burden. He did the job himself for the previous years.

If people would step up and volunteer to do functions (and then COMPLETE those functions) - the Rally could be revived. It may not be at the level you once remember it, as sponsors are not handing out product as they used to.

Not whining or complaining, simply explaining why the Rally is not what it used to be. Tony, Korny and I used to go to the Rally at Texas over Memorial Day weekend every year. They haven't had an official Rally in two years - this weekend there are about a dozen people having a fun fishing weekend. Things change.

Here's an idea - if you want to see one happen, step up and offer to organize it - there are enough TD's and participants here, I am sure you could get a scale setup - then all you have to do is setup a venue and you are ready to go - doesn't have to be elaborate event, just a gathering of friends.

We don't need no stinkin' rallly!
Last year we had a group of guys just show up and fish. I got a scale and a boat with two seats, the Casino has cut rates for fisherman and I'm sure I won't be alone if I go up there some time in July for 5 or 6 days.

What do ya think?

I am kinda new to bass fishing and so I tend to not know a bunch of stuff . Could someone give me a brief explanation of what a rally is all about? I would appreciate it. Thanks, Dave

All you really have to do is give the guys up at the lake a shout, depending on where you want to stay and find out from them when they've got open accommodations. KVC is a great place to start. You don't need to set up much int he way of food or anything like that anymore as you really have no idea how many will come. If you can get a room rate that'd and know that you can weigh in there that'd be a great start.

Last year we basically showed up and fished and it was pretty darned fun. If you guys figure out a date, I'll surely do my best to fish it.

How about having it on Friday, September 24th through Sunday, September 26th???

I'd be happy to work with others to arrange things if the Rally could be held on that weekend.
